The Lady Tornadoes played an even first half with the second-best team in the state but couldn't overcome a shaky third quarter as the Washington Panthers defeated the Taylorville Tornadoes 70-53. The Panthers outscored Taylorville 28-16 in the third quarter including four 3-pointers en route to their victory. The Panthers would score 9 3-pointers total in the contest.
Taylorville saw big point numbers from Mazie Fleming (12), Grace Rogers (16), and Addison Tarr (11). For her efforts, Fleming was named the Nicole Patrick Country Financial Player of the Game. Taylorville will now move to the fifth-place bracket, where they will face Rock Island (7-8) at Normal Community High School at 2:30 PM Saturday.
Last year, the Taylorville Girls finished in sixth place in the Classic.
