Taylorville Beats Charleston In Football

The Taylorville Tornadoes scored on the fourth play of the game and never looked back as they defeated the Charleston Trojans by a score of 35-23. The Tornadoes took a 25-16 lead at halftime and many players made themselves known on the stat sheet both on the offensive and defensive side of the field.  Owen Mateer would be named the Nicole Patrick Country Financial Player of the game for his two touchdowns in the second half.

The Trojans would get within one score, but back-to-back holding penalties derailed their go-ahead drive and the Tornadoes would get the ball back leading to a Mateer touchdown in the third quarter. Taylorville improves to 4-4 on the season and 3-2 in the Apollo Conference.
