Taylorville Football Massive Overtime Win Against Effingham

The Taylorville Tornadoes improve to 1-2 in Apollo Confrence play, beating the Effingham Flaming Hearts 42-41 in overtime on senior night.

Things were knotted at 21 through the first two quarters. Cash Foraker picked off Effingham quarterback Jaxon Bridges and took it to the house in the second quarter among other scores via touchdown passes by Baron Odam.

Overtime saw Effingham with the first attempt and they were successful in punching in six and hitting the extra point, forcing the Tornadoes to match. Taylorville Quarterback Baron Odam was great all game but needed to sit out for a few plays due to an apparent injury. Junior, Malique Peasre steps up in the quarterback spot on a 4th and 20 for the game, Pearse snaps it to Blake Ladage in the endzone to bring the Tornadoes to within one. Baron Odam makes a dramatic return, going for two and the win. Odam found his man in the endzone and Taylorville came away with the win.

The Nicole Patrick Country Financial Player of the Game goes to two players, Senior, Baron Odam, and Junior, Malique Pearse. It was senior night at Taylorville High School and the community showed up in droves for the exciting win.

Joining the broadcast for a special occasion were Brad Pasley and Lou Johnson, wide receivers on the 1986 Tornado Team. They had a great time reminiscing on old-school Tornado Football and the comradery and brotherhood that still looms large in the organization.  A big thanks to those Taylorvile alumni.

The Tornadoes will play away on Friday, October 11th to play Mattoon.
