Bergschneider Breaks All Time Taylorville Scoring Record

A school basketball shooting record that had been in place since 1952 was shattered in Auburn, Illinois on Tuesday evening. Taylorville Tornado Senior Jase Bergschneider hit a 3 point basket as time expired at the end of the first half against the Auburn Trojans to break the record set by Bill Ridley in 1952 with 1,731 points. Jase Bergschneider would go on to score 10 more points in the game and finish with 23 which put Jase as the all-time leading points scorer in Taylorville Tornado history. Jase was feeling ecstatic about breaking the record.

What may have seemed like a distant dream for Jase when he arrived as a freshman, became a reality for him as a senior. Bergschneider says he never anticipated breaking the record as his goal has always been to win games.

Bergschneider credits his teammates and Coach Ryan Brown for all the support through the years.

Taylorville would go on to win in Auburn by a final score of 60-38.
