Bergschneider Breaks Taylorville High School Scoring Record

Jase Bergschneider led Taylorville scoring with 51 points, breaking a school record, as Taylorville defeated Mattoon 76-54. Bergschneider set the single game scoring record at Taylorville High School, breaking Adam Stork's 44 point game from 1994. Bergschneider got the game rolling with a quick 4 points off of two turnovers and never looked back. Bergschneider also had seven 3 pointers. Bryce Friedrich had a fantastic game as well, finishing with 10 points and battling Samuel Bradbury, a 6'8" sophomore for possession throughout the whole game. Rhayden Gideon also finished with 8 points but everything pointed back to Jase, who barely played in the fourth quarter and still had 6 points in the fourth alone. Taylorville won their third straight and move to 13-12 on the season and 5-3 in apollo conference. Both Boys and Girls head to Mahomet-Seymour on Friday for another road matchup.
