Christian County Court Cases 05/26/2023

The following court cases was heard on May 26th, 2023:

 

Cheri Cott: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, final pretrial hearing scheduled for 10-24-23 at 1:15 p.m. Jury trial scheduled for 11-6-23 at 8:30 a.m. Both hearings are in person. Parties ordered to file pretrial motions at least 30 days before the jury trial to be heard at the final pretrial hearing. Trial in abstentia admonition given.

 

Ronee Foraker: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, final pretrial hearing scheduled for 6-20-23 at 1:15 p.m. Jury trial scheduled for 7-3-23 at 8:30 a.m. Both hearings are in person. Parties ordered to file pretrial motions at least 30 days before the jury trial to be heard at the final pretrial hearing. Trial in abstentia admonition given. Defendant admonished and consents to 402 conference scheduled 6/1/23 at 8:45 a.m.

 

Allison Grothaus: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. Defendant knowingly and voluntarily waives preliminary hearing. See written waiver. Defendant waives arraignment, pleads not guilty, and demands trial by jury. Pretrial hearing scheduled for 8-1-23 at 10 a.m.

 

Joseph Hicks: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. Negotiated plea presented and approved by the Court, whereby Defendant pleads guilty to the charge of theft (Count II). Count I dismissed per plea. Judgment of conviction entered. By agreement, Defendant sentenced to two years probation, 46 days in jail with credit for 23 days served, and he is ordered to pay the financial obligations set forth in the financial sentencing order. See written orders for additional terms. Hearing on the petition for waiver of assessments scheduled for in person hearing on 7-12--23 at 9 a.m.

 

Starla Hostetler: Defendant fails to appear. Warrant to issue. Geographic limits of the warrant are Christian County and surrounding counties. Bond set at $50,000 over objection of Public defender. Public defender has verified Defendant was medically discharged from inpatient treatment but has not returned to the jail.

 

Drakeem Manning: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing and hearing on the motion to reduce bond continued to 5-30-23 at 10 a.m.

 

David Moma: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, plea hearing scheduled for 6-6-23 at 10 a.m.

 

Landon Moore: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. Over objection of the State, Defendant's motion to continue preliminary granted to illness of Assistant Public defender. Status on preliminary hearing scheduled for 6-12-23 at 10 a.m.

 

Patrick Motley: Defendant present remotely in custody with Public defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, case called for hearing on application for recognizance bond based upon successful completion of inpatient treatment on furlough. Arguments heard. Over objection of the State, Defendant ordered released on a $50,000 recognizance bond subject to the terms of the pretrial release order. Pretrial hearing in all pending matters scheduled for 6-26-23 at 10 a.m. in person.

 

Laurie Reatherford: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 7-25-23 at 10 a.m. State made a plea offer and Defendant anticipates making a counter offer.

 

Jerry Riggs: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing and hearing on Defendant's motion for disclosure of confidential informants scheduled for 7-17-23 at 11 a.m.

 

Ronald Robinson Jr.: Parties present by counsel. Defendant was taken into custody by the Illinois Department of Corrections on a parole warrant. Preliminary hearing continued to 6-20-23 at 10 a.m. Sub to continue. In person writ to issue.

 

Fred Rutherford Jr.: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. Negotiated plea presented and approved by the Court, whereby Defendant pleads guilty to the charge of theft. Judgment of conviction entered. By agreement, defendant sentenced to two years probation, 10 days in jail with credit for 5 day served, and he is ordered to pay the fine, assessments, and restitution. Petition for waiver hearing conducted. Defendant sworn and testifies. Petition granted. See written orders.

 

Layla Schuyler: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 6-23-23-23 at 10 a.m.

 

Cale Sexson: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, under reduction motion hearing continued to 6-1-23 at 10 a.m.

 

Ryan Tarrant: Defendant present with PD Senger, who is granted leave to withdraw
due to conflict of interest tht developed while the case was pending. State's Attorney present. PD Herkert appointed to represent Defendant. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 6-15-23 at 10 a.m. Set case for trial now.

 

Trisha Weakley: Defendant present remotely in custody with Public defender and
State's Attorney present. Hearing on bond motion and petition to revoke scheduled for 6-2-23 at 10 a.m. Verified Application for Recognizance Bond or Reduction to an Attainable Amount filed by Public Defender Senger.

 

Billi Woodruff: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 6-26-23 at 10 a.m. State has made a plea offer and Defendant made a plea offer. Set for trial if no plea.
