Area Arrests And Accidents 05/16/24

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following to Regional Radio News; 

 

5/15/24

 

A Juvenile, age 15, of Taylorville, was arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

 

A Juvenile, age 16, of Taylorville, was arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

 

A Juvenile, age 15, of Taylorville, was arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

 

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following crashes: 

 

On May 11th at 2:23 PM, A passerby observed a gold van that had hit a stop sign at the intersection of West Main Cross and South Cheney Street. The caller advised the vehicle was left abandoned with no one in or around the vehicle. Police were dispatched to the scene, where a gold Chrysler Town & Country minivan was halfway on the sidewalk and halfway on the street. The front bumper on the passenger side had hit the stop sign causing the pole to bend at an angle. The back bumper on the driver's side had a dent to where it was hit with white transfer paint. The owner of Unit 1 advised she was at the house 3 doors from the stop sign at a yard sale. The owner, Rebecca Stephen had left the vehicle running while she was looking at the yard sale. Police say it was a hit and run but it is unclear who was driving the vehicle. 

Area Arrests And Accidents 05/14/24

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

05/13/24

Myleigh Sieben, 17, of Tower Hill was traveling South on 1325 IL Highway 51 and struck a deer that entered the roadway.

 

05/14/24

Ethan Davis, 19, of Dalton City was traveling East on 1700 North Road. He failed to negotiate the “S” curve at the 1500 East Road intersection. He continued on to 1700 North Road failing to reduce speed and crossed the intersection and struck the ditch and the vehicle caught on fire. The front end of the vehicle sustained damage from the collision with the ditch and the fire. The fire was contained to the front end of the vehicle. Stonington fire Department put the vehicle fire out. All three passengers of the vehicle were outside of the vehicle standing in the roadway upon arrival.

Brandy M. Beck, age 41, of Tower Hill Illinois, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

 

Amie G. Rhodes, age 49, of Pana Illinois, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

 

Denny D. Durbin, age 53, of Taylorville was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

 

5/11/24

 

Antjuan R. Rhodes, age 20, of Pana Illinois was arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

 

Cody D. Carrell, age 19, of Pana Illinois was arrested for DUI.

 

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following crashes: 

 

On May 11th at 12:56 PM, Luke Baites of Taylorville was sitting at the stop intersection of Springfield Road and North Cheney Street at the red light intersection. Kyle Brasche of Taylorville stated he saw Baites continue to come forward in his rear view mirror. Luke Baites said he started to honk his horn to try to get the attention of Brasche, who appeared to him to be looking down as he was approaching the intersection. Brasche stated he was watching the car behind him approach him fast and was trying to decide if the car was going to strike him. He then said he ran into the back end of him. A citation was issued to Brasche for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. 

 

On May 10th at 11:56 AM,  Season Fisher of Stonington was traveling east on East Park Street.  Roger Spresser of Taylorville was waved through  the intersection by another motorist, and both vehicles struck as Fisher hit Spresser. No injuries were reported.  

Area Arrests And Accidents 05/13/24

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

4/18/24

 

David Keel, 62, of Taylorville and Curtis Braye, 63, of Nokomis were both driving their vehicles North on County 1. At the intersection of Route 48, David Keel’s foot came off his brake causing him to hit the back of Curtis Braye’s vehicle.

 

4/30/24

 

Janet Stanton, 81, of Pana was traveling North on 1400 East Road (County 22). Janet Stanton approached the stop sign at 280 North Road (County 2) and failed to stop at the stop sign. Janet Stanton’s vehicle made contact with Steven Lockwood, 69, of Edinburg vehicle which was traveling west on 2850 North Road. Janet Stanton’s vehicle spun and came to rest in the intersection facing east. Steven Lockwood’s vehicle continued west bound after contact and came to rest in the west bound lane facing south east.

 

5/6/24

 

Unit 2 was parked in a parking lot at the West Boat Dock at Sangchris Lake. Owner of Unit 2 was not near his vehicle at the time it was stuck and does not know who struck it. Unit 1 appeared to be red in color and possibly a boat trailer. (No name were given in this report)

 

5/10/24

 

Jacob Washburn of Pana was traveling through the Pana Community Hospital parking lot traveling East. Daylynn Hill, 20, of Taylorville backed out of a parking stall located on the south end of the parking lot striking Jacob Washburn’s vehicle. Daylynn Hill then drove through the grass field located in front of the parking stall in a reckless manner and left the scene.

 

5/11/24

 

Kirk Cochran, 32, of Decatur was traveling nourtheast near 1600 North Illinois Route 48 while being pursued by multiple police units making an attempt to stop Kirk Cochran. Kirk Cochran left the roadway to the left and was unable to keep his vehicle upright and laid over on the rock embankment on the southside of the railroad tracks. The Taylorville Police Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

5/09/24


Thomas E. Coy, age 59, of Taylorville was arrested for Battery to a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest.

 

Taylorville Police responded to the following vehicle accidents: 

 

On April 28th at 1:53 PM at North Main Street and East Park Street.  Doris Bianchetta of Taylorville stated she had stopped at the intersection.  She said she was creeping out because of the bushes along the sidewalk east of the intersection. Rodney Blomquist of Taylorville could not stop in time from hitting her vehicle. No injuries were reported.

 

On April 30th at 5:03 PM, a vehicle that was parked was struck while facing northbound in the Walgreens Parking Lot.  The vehicle that struck the parked car, left the scene of the accident failing to report the incident. 

 

On April 30th at 6 PM, Timothy McRoy of Litchfield was traveling through the parking lot of Hickory Estates at 1901 East 1500 North Road.  McRoy attempted to travel west through a covered portion of the circle drive, but collided with the building's fixed roof structure.  The roof sustained damage, and the car sustained roof damage.  No injuries were reported.  

 

On May 2nd at 6:45 AM, Johnna L. Fouts of Taylorville was headed west on Franklin Street coming up to South Main Street.  Linda Childers of Taylorville proceeded through the intersection after viewing no other vehicles.  As Childers was halfway through the intersection, Childers hit Fouts along the entire passenger side of the vehicle.  Both vehicles had damage but were driveable.  No injuries were reported.  

 

On May 4th at 5:40 AM, Tyler Washburn of Collinsville, IL, was traveling North on Cheney Street when it tried to slow down.  The driver stated he thought he had the clutch pulled in when he revved the motorcycle up and that caused the vehicle to accelerate towards the vehicle in front.  The rider than pulled in the front brake locking the wheel and was ejected over the front end of the motorcycle. 

 

On May 4th, 2024, at approximately 7:35 P.M., Daily M. Alliyah of Owaneco  was traveling west on Park Street and turning north onto North Webster St. At this time, Kelly Lareau of Kincaid was traveling directly behind Alliyah, while also turning north onto North Webster Street. Unit 2 stopped near the intersection, and Lareau struck Alliyah in the rear-end of the vehicle. Neither vehicle
received disabling damage from the impact. No injuries were reported at the time of the
accident

 

On May 6th at 4:10 PM, Summer Pettijohn was traveling east on Spresser Street. Pettijohn of Morrisonville stopped to wait for traffic to then turn into the Ace Hardware Parking Lot. Kane Johnson of Taylorville failed to reduce speed and struck Pettijohn from behind.  No injuries were reported. 

 

On May 7th at 11:05 AM, Both Torie Johnson-Pratt of Taylorville and Logan Craig of Taylorville were traveling east on West Spresser Street approaching the stop intersection of West Spresser Street and North Shumway Street. Johnson-Pratt did not stop in time to avoid striking Craig in the rear end. During police interviews, Johnson-Pratt did admit to yelling at the female driver when he exited his vehicle because she almost hit him at the intersection of W. Spresser Street and N. Cheney Street when they had to stop at the stop intersection due to a red light. He said the female driver of the first vehicle was looking down and he figured she was looking at a phone. Johnson-Pratt did receive a citation.  No injuries were reported.

Chad M. Hull, age 37, of Stonington Illinois was arrested for Violation of Order of Protection

 

Ethan S. Law, age 30, of Shelbyville Illinois was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.

 

Tyra M. Shull, age 21, of Taylorville, was arrested for Aggravated Battery.

David S. Rightnower, age 64, of Taylorville, was arrested for Check Fraud.

Donald R. Johnson, age 48, of Taylorville, was arrested on a Warrant.

 

Sydney L. Schober, age 27, of Pawnee Illinois, was arrested for Expired Registration and Driving While License Expired More Than a Year.

Amanda L. Buschon, age 42, of Taylorville, was arrested on a Warrant.

 

Amanda J. Johanningmeier, age 33, of Taylorville, was arrested for Trespassing and Possession of Methamphetamine.

 

Garret L. Austin, age 56, of Taylorville, was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Battery and Resisting Arrest.

 

A Juvenile Female, age 16, of Pana Illinois, was arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

 

A Juvenile Female, age 16, of Pana Illinois, was arrested for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

 

James B. Middleton, age 26, of Taylorville, was arrested for Domestic Battery.

Richard Busboom, 29, of Taylorville was turned him in to CCSO on 04/24/24 on a Warrant.

 

Aaron Bice, 49, of Springfield was arrested by Macon County and transported to CCSO on a Warrant.

 

Christopher Hampton, 39, of Farmersville was arrested by Montgomery County and transported to CCSO on a FTA Warrant.

4/29/24

 

Aaron Rice, 49, of Springfield was arrested on a Warrant.

 

Erin Passini, 40, of Taylorville was arrested on a FTA Warrant.

 

Richard Busboom, 29, of Taylorville was arrested on a Warrant.

 

4/23/24

Christopher Goebel, 46, of Taylorville 900 North Road. Just past 2100 East Road when he went through a jog in the road. Mr. Goebel lost control and went into the ditch causing the tractor and trailer to overturn. Once the trailer overturned it spill out 9393 bushels of corn into the residence yard.

 

4/25/24

Joseph Jackson, 46, of Decatur was traveling northeast on the train tracks, approaching the crossing for 2300 North Road. (Joseph Jackson was operating a Norfolk Southern locomotive NS7139, pulling two empty grain cars.) Joseph Kessler, 73, of Sarasota, FL was traveling Eastbound on 2300 North Road. Joseph Kessler slowed down when nearing the train tracks and then proceeded onto the tracks. Joseph Jackson entered the gauge of the rail when Joseph Kessler entered the crossing. Joseph Jackson struck Joseph Kessler near the passenger door sending Joseph Kessler northbound into the field. Joseph Kessler overturned and continued North into the field before coming to a rest. Joseph Kessler vehicle was totaled from the damage, and the locomotive received damage to the front and left side.

 

4/27/24

Riese Tirey, 19, of Taylorville was traveling southbound on Lake Drive, approximately 300 feet north of Glenco Court, in the south addition of Bertinetti. Riese Tirey stated it was raining heavily and difficult to see the roadway. She left the roadway to the right, sideswiping a yellow “SLOW” sign. Her vehicle received damage along the passenger side. No injuries were reported.
