The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;
4/18/24
David Keel, 62, of Taylorville and Curtis Braye, 63, of Nokomis were both driving their vehicles North on County 1. At the intersection of Route 48, David Keel’s foot came off his brake causing him to hit the back of Curtis Braye’s vehicle.
4/30/24
Janet Stanton, 81, of Pana was traveling North on 1400 East Road (County 22). Janet Stanton approached the stop sign at 280 North Road (County 2) and failed to stop at the stop sign. Janet Stanton’s vehicle made contact with Steven Lockwood, 69, of Edinburg vehicle which was traveling west on 2850 North Road. Janet Stanton’s vehicle spun and came to rest in the intersection facing east. Steven Lockwood’s vehicle continued west bound after contact and came to rest in the west bound lane facing south east.

Unit 2 was parked in a parking lot at the West Boat Dock at Sangchris Lake. Owner of Unit 2 was not near his vehicle at the time it was stuck and does not know who struck it. Unit 1 appeared to be red in color and possibly a boat trailer. (No name were given in this report)

Jacob Washburn of Pana was traveling through the Pana Community Hospital parking lot traveling East. Daylynn Hill, 20, of Taylorville backed out of a parking stall located on the south end of the parking lot striking Jacob Washburn’s vehicle. Daylynn Hill then drove through the grass field located in front of the parking stall in a reckless manner and left the scene.

Kirk Cochran, 32, of Decatur was traveling nourtheast near 1600 North Illinois Route 48 while being pursued by multiple police units making an attempt to stop Kirk Cochran. Kirk Cochran left the roadway to the left and was unable to keep his vehicle upright and laid over on the rock embankment on the southside of the railroad tracks. Thomas E. Coy, age 59, of Taylorville was arrested for Battery to a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest.
Taylorville Police responded to the following vehicle accidents:
On April 28th at 1:53 PM at North Main Street and East Park Street. Doris Bianchetta of Taylorville stated she had stopped at the intersection. She said she was creeping out because of the bushes along the sidewalk east of the intersection. Rodney Blomquist of Taylorville could not stop in time from hitting her vehicle. No injuries were reported.
On April 30th at 5:03 PM, a vehicle that was parked was struck while facing northbound in the Walgreens Parking Lot. The vehicle that struck the parked car, left the scene of the accident failing to report the incident.
On April 30th at 6 PM, Timothy McRoy of Litchfield was traveling through the parking lot of Hickory Estates at 1901 East 1500 North Road. McRoy attempted to travel west through a covered portion of the circle drive, but collided with the building's fixed roof structure. The roof sustained damage, and the car sustained roof damage. No injuries were reported.
On May 2nd at 6:45 AM, Johnna L. Fouts of Taylorville was headed west on Franklin Street coming up to South Main Street. Linda Childers of Taylorville proceeded through the intersection after viewing no other vehicles. As Childers was halfway through the intersection, Childers hit Fouts along the entire passenger side of the vehicle. Both vehicles had damage but were driveable. No injuries were reported.
On May 4th at 5:40 AM, Tyler Washburn of Collinsville, IL, was traveling North on Cheney Street when it tried to slow down. The driver stated he thought he had the clutch pulled in when he revved the motorcycle up and that caused the vehicle to accelerate towards the vehicle in front. The rider than pulled in the front brake locking the wheel and was ejected over the front end of the motorcycle.
On May 4th, 2024, at approximately 7:35 P.M., Daily M. Alliyah of Owaneco was traveling west on Park Street and turning north onto North Webster St. At this time, Kelly Lareau of Kincaid was traveling directly behind Alliyah, while also turning north onto North Webster Street. Unit 2 stopped near the intersection, and Lareau struck Alliyah in the rear-end of the vehicle. Neither vehicle
received disabling damage from the impact. No injuries were reported at the time of the
accident
On May 6th at 4:10 PM, Summer Pettijohn was traveling east on Spresser Street. Pettijohn of Morrisonville stopped to wait for traffic to then turn into the Ace Hardware Parking Lot. Kane Johnson of Taylorville failed to reduce speed and struck Pettijohn from behind. No injuries were reported.
On May 7th at 11:05 AM, Both Torie Johnson-Pratt of Taylorville and Logan Craig of Taylorville were traveling east on West Spresser Street approaching the stop intersection of West Spresser Street and North Shumway Street. Johnson-Pratt did not stop in time to avoid striking Craig in the rear end. During police interviews, Johnson-Pratt did admit to yelling at the female driver when he exited his vehicle because she almost hit him at the intersection of W. Spresser Street and N. Cheney Street when they had to stop at the stop intersection due to a red light. He said the female driver of the first vehicle was looking down and he figured she was looking at a phone. Johnson-Pratt did receive a citation. No injuries were reported.
