Michael Lee Fullerton

Michael Lee Fullerton, 75, of Cerro Gordo, formerly of Morrisonville, passed away at 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at his residence.
Mike was born June 28, 1944 in Chicago, the son of Norman and Virginia (Tavender) Fullerton.  He married Joan Jurgena, and they later divorced.  Mike then married Beverly Fullerton, and she preceded him in death.
Mike graduated from Morrisonville High school in 1962, and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. After his time in the service, he and his father owned and operated Chicken Unlimited in Decatur, until his father’s death in 1977.  Mike then sold real estate until his retirement. He enjoyed showing quarter horses, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Pamela Johnson of Decatur, Mickie Fullerton of Cerro Gordo, and Donna (husband, Jack) Gideon of Cerro Gordo; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Private family inurnment will be held at Morrisonville Cemetery.

William "Danny" Roeder

William “Danny” Roeder, 66, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 3:14 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Danny was born on May 13, 1954, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Lloyd and Birdie (Newton) Roeder. He worked for Eschbaugh Carpet Service for many years as Scott’s right hand man. Danny loved baseball, was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to mushroom hunt with Brad Rickett.

Surviving are his brother, Allen Roeder of Pana; sister, Peggy (Robert) Snow of Lakewood and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

A gathering for friends and family to celebrate Danny's life will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.

Brenda R. (Thunhorst) Schleyhahn

Brenda R. (Thunhorst) Schleyhahn, 65, of Springfield, formerly of Morrisonville, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at her residence.
Brenda was born October 10, 1954 in Taylorville, the daughter of Walter J. “Tunie” and Ruth M. (Swain) Thunhorst.  She was a member of the Morrisonville Class of 1972, and went on to work the State of Illinois Department of Human Services for many years, until her retirement.  Brenda was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Morrisonville.  She enjoyed making and painting pottery, macramé, refinishing furniture, and shopping.  Brenda was also a lover of all animals.
She was preceded in death by her father; and sister, Michelle A. Rosenblum.
Brenda is survived by her mother, Ruth M. Thunhorst of Morrisonville; sisters, Kathy Myers of Morrisonville, and Kelli (Bryan) LeMarr of Auburn; nieces and nephews, Cristin (D.J. Sanders) O’Connor of Morrisonville, Hannah O’Connor of Springfield, Austin (Chelsea) Myers of Alaska, Aria Guerra of Phoenix, AZ, Zachary (Jessica Southard) LeMarr of Springfield, and Brandon LeMarr of Springfield; 6 great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
Private family memorial ceremonies will be held with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.
Inurnment will be held at Morrisonville Cemetery at a later date.

Patti Irwin

Patti Irwin, 64, of Taylorville, passed away at 6:52 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

 

Patti was born April 8, 1956 in Taylorville, the daughter of Kenneth Whitsett and Janice Keigley.  She attended Stonington schools, and graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1974.  Patti worked for many retail stores and restaurants, including Wal-Mart in Taylorville, as well as for Borg Warner in Decatur. She loved to crochet, and she used her talents to create hats for premature babies to wear in the hospital.  Patti had an adventurous spirit, and she enjoyed traveling all over the country.  She also had a passion for Native American art, wind chimes, and mermaid art.  Patti will be remembered for being a considerate and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister.

She was preceded in death by her father.

 

Patti is survived by her mother, Janice L. Brown of Taylorville; sons, Jonathan (Jackie) Irwin of Springfield, and Jeffrey (Kacy) Irwin of Pesotum; grandchildren, Mathew, Jaycen, Desiree, Devin, Mary, and Brody Irwin, Haley Whitsel, Lauren O’Neal, Jonathan Mitchell, Kelsey Jenkins, Kayla and Josie Davis, and William Jones; siblings, Renaye Ferguson of Taylorville, Gregory (Regina) Whitsett of Chesterfield, VA, and Julie (Drew) Sincavage of Taylorville; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Jasmine.

 

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville.  In keeping with CDC guidelines, only ten guests at a time will be allowed to visit with the family, and the family has asked that all guests please wear a mask.

 

Private family burial will be held at Cudgetown Cemetery in Du Quoin.

Carolyn A. Otey

Carolyn A. Otey, 67, of Taylorville, passed away at 7:58 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at her residence.

Carolyn was born August 4, 1952 in Robinson, the daughter of Albert Gene and Betty Jean (Watts) Miller.  She married William Henry Otey, Jr. on April 6, 1974 in Hardinville.  Carolyn was a homemaker, but worked as a seamstress and babysitter out of her home for many years.  She loved camping, fishing, and hunting with her family.  Carolyn was also a fantastic cook, making most everything from scratch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Albert and Ronnie Miller.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, William H. Otey, Jr. of Taylorville; children, Peggy (Allen) Garcia of Coal Valley, Twilla (Russell) Stockon of Taylorville, and Joshua Otey of Taylorville; grandchildren, Brian and Cara Otey, Silas, Lance, and Shelby Stockon, and Sage and James Garcia; siblings, Mary (Rick) Williamson of Robinson, Vicky (Harold) Culberson of Oblong, Bernice (John) Malone of Robinson, Bill (Dixie) Miller of Lawrenceville, Carl Miller of Robinson, David Miller of Hardinville, and Roger Miller of Duncanville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Norman Eugene Huddlestun

Norman Eugene Huddlestun, 52 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 6:05 p.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on May 9, 1968 in Springfield, IL the son of Norman Gene and Nancy Mae (Graham) Huddlestun. Norman worked as a laborer.

He is survived by his Father: Norman Huddlestun of Taylorville, IL; Several Aunts Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Son: Zachary Daniel Huddlestun and Sister: Brenda Sue Thunhorst.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville with Pastor Chad Foster Officiating.

Anton L. "Bo" Hubert

Mr. Anton L. “Bo” Hubert, 89, of Tovey, IL passed from this life at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Country Lane Memory Care Assisted Living in Riverton, IL

 

He was born in Tovey, IL May 22, 1931 the son of Anton and Louisa (Cachera) Hubert.  Bo married Mary F. Williams Moore in Mt. Vernon, IL July 16, 1964 and she preceded him January 11, 1999.  He later married Ruby D. Davis Ernest May 19, 2001 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him October 6, 2017.

 

Mr. Hubert work many jobs through out the years but worked longest at Peabody Mine #10 near Pawnee from where he retired.  He enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, taking care of his yard, woodworking and especially spending time with his family.

 

Surviving are a daughter Linda Kalb of Springfield, IL a son Darrel (Cheryl) Moore, Jr., of Tovey, IL 12 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren, a brother Fred (Ruth) Hubert of Escondido, CA along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.  

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 wives, and a daughter Imogene Moore Vaughn.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL.  Rev. Louis Kunz will officiate.  Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville.  Visitation for Mr. Anton “Bo” Hubert will be held for one hour before his service at the funeral home.

Linda S. Rhodes-Polley

Linda S. Rhodes-Polley, 72, of Oblong, IL, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at home surrounded by her Cila family and loved ones. 


Linda was born on July 18, 1947, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Oral “Tex” and Imogene (Russell) Rhodes.  A highlight for Linda was participating in the Special Olympics.  She also loved to shop, watch movies, go out to eat and looked forward to vacations.  


Surviving are six siblings:  Gary (Donna) Rhodes of Pana, Jerry Rhodes of Pana, Carl (Penny) Rhodes of Shelbyville, Janet Robertson of Shelbyville, Rick Rhodes of Shelbyville and Debbie (Jeff) Stephens of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Val Rhodes of Shelbyville; many nieces and nephews and her Cila home family, especially her longtime friends, Kristina and Erin.


Linda was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers:  Larry Rhodes, Ronnie Rhodes and Gene Rhodes; sister, Dottie Rhodes; two nephews:  Chad and Randy; two nieces:  Karrie and Jill.


Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Pastor Randy Miller officiating.  Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Memorials may be made in Linda’s name to the Range Street Cila Home, 301 N. Range Street, Oblong, IL, 62449.

Brenda Sue (Cole) Fleigle

Brenda Sue (Cole) Fleigle, also known to many as “Fin”, 61, of Morrisonville, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  
Brenda was born September 9, 1958 in Taylorville, the daughter of Ron and Jean (Beaty) Cole.  She married Francis Fleigle on September 24, 1976 in Morrisonville.  Brenda retired after 35 years of service with the State of Illinois Retirement System.  She was a member of the St. Maurice Parish.  Brenda enjoyed sitting outside and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandsons.  She loved afternoon car rides around town with her dog Teddy, and collecting/reading the daily area newspapers.  
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clyde and Alberta Cole, and Wayne and Marcella Beaty; and father-in-law, William “Bill” Fleigle.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Francis Fleigle of Morrisonville; parents, Ron and Jean Cole of Morrisonville; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Fleigle of Morrisonville; children, Jayne (husband, Steve) Bethard and Matthew Fleigle, both of Morrisonville; grandsons, Cole Bethard, Caden Bethard, and Carsen Bethard, all of Morrisonville; sisters, Tracy Held of Morrisonville, and Lisa McKinnie of Taylorville; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a celebration of life and private family burial will be held at a later date.

Brett Allen Kohl Sr.

Brett Allen Kohl Sr., 61, of Mechanicsburg, passed away June 16, 2020 at Bridge Care Suites, Springfield.

Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln is assisting the family..  Visitation will be from 10 AM until 12 noon Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Kincaid Baptist Church.  Funeral services will follow at 12 noon and burial will be in Grove City Cemetery.  Social distancing rules apply.  

Brett was born April 4, 1959 in Springfield, IL., the son of Leroy and Bonnie (Stogdell) Kohl.  He was a welder and Union 270 Carpenter.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, welding, arrowhead and mushroom hunting, and he could build anything.

Survivors include: his mother Bonnie Kohl; daughter Angela Kohl, son Brett Allen Kohl Jr. (Michelle); grandchildren:  Colin, Kamden, Bretlyn, and Briggs; long-time companion Cathy Peters; siblings:  Kim Kohl (Bob), Marj Kohl-Carter, and Eric Kohl (Heather); brother in law Charles Bowles, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father and his sister Janet Bowles.

Robert E. "Bob" Isaac

Robert E. “Bob” Isaac 74, of Long Creek, IL passed away at 1:59 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2020, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.

A private family service will be held.  Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek with military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the US Army Honors Team.  Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Bob was born December 3, 1945 in Clinton, IL the son of Ernie and Clara (Johnson) Isaac.  He retired from Caterpillar having worked in Maintenance.  Bob married Linda (Tilton) Williams on July 11, 1987.  He was a member of Long Creek United Methodist Church and the UAW Local 751.  Bob had served in the US Army and was a Vietnam War veteran.

Surviving are his wife: Linda; daughter: Cheryl Sherman (Rob) of Lincoln;  son: John Robert Isaac (Gretchen) of Clinton; stepdaughters: Denise Williams-Gould (Kevin) of Long Creek and Kristy Baum of Long Creek; brothers: Richard Isaac (Renee) of Lane and Jerry Isaac of Clinton; sisters: Judy Hight (Wayne) of Clinton, Sue Nisinger (Harold) of Clinton, and Joyce Shofner (Danny) of Clinton; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, and one sister.

Paul Lee Sarver

Paul Lee Sarver, 89, of Herrick, IL passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at home.

 

Paul was born on August 14, 1930, in Ramsey, the son of Oscar and Katie (Miller) Sarver. He was a graduate of Ramsey High School in the Class of 1946. Paul was a United States Air Force Veteran serving from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict. Paul and Phyllis Goldsborough were united in holy matrimony on December 14, 1952 and were blessed with 67 years of marriage.

 

Paul was a lifetime farmer in the Ramsey/Herrick area, he owned and operated the Key Farm Service Center in Herrick from 1965 to 1976 and he retired from Yellow Freight in 1993 after nearly 20 years of service. He also owned the spring at the Wren Bridge where he enjoyed meeting and visiting with people that came from all over the world. He was a member of the Clover Leaf Masonic Lodge #990 in Herrick, and the Sarver-Guthrie American Legion Post 839 in Herrick. He was a former member of the Fayette Water Board, served as the former Carson Township Road Commissioner, and former Vice President of Vandalia Mutual Insurance.

 

Surviving are his lovely wife, Phyllis Sarver of Herrick; children: Vicki (Mike) Krost of Chillicothe, Lee Ann (Larry) Sarver of Herrick and Bradley Sarver (Carla Smart) of Wilmington; seven grandchildren: Tasha, Todd, Zachary, Ginger, Lora, Ginger and Melissa; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Shawn Sarver; brother, H.M. “Cy” Sarver; sister, Marette Sarver Durbin and niece, Kelly Helm.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the First Christian Church in Cowden with Pastor Nate Harper and Pastor Jay Huddleston officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery with military rites performed. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Masonic rites will be held at 12:45 p.m. by the Clover Leaf Masonic Lodge #990 of Herrick. Memorials may be made in Paul’s name to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the donor’s favorite charity. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden in assisting the family.

She was a retired Dietary Aide, at Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia, IL; former member of First Baptist/Unity Church, Vandalia, IL, and Fellowship Baptist Church, Shelbyville, IL.

 

She is survived by: Daughter - Jody Shuff and Larry, Shelbyville, IL; Grandchildren - Jeff, Julia, Scott, Kathy, Mark, Rob, Chris & Amber; 12 Great Grandchildren; 8 Great Great Grandchildren; and Brother - Frank Krost and Delva, Saint Elmo, IL.

Robert F. McConnell

Robert F. McConnell, 93 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 6:35 p.m. at his home in rural Taylorville, IL. He was born on July 1, 1926 in May TWP in Christian County, IL the son of Charles and Emma (Jackson) McConnell. He married R. Louise Coffey on August 17, 1945 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death on July 14, 2011. Bob graduated from Taylorville High School in 1944. He lived on the family farm, east of Sharpsburg for 69 years. He farmed for 54 years and formed Bob-O-Lou Hereford Farm in 1957 where he showed and sold cattle in North America. He was an auctioneer for 35 years, he was active in Farm Bureau for 13 years and was president of that board for 4 years, and he served on the Stonington Grain Cooperative for 10 years as director, director of the Illinois Hereford Assn for several years where he was named 1998 Illinois Hereford man of the year. In his spare time, Bob loved to play blackjack in Las Vegas and St. Louis.


He is survived by his Sons: Robert (Toni) McConnell Jr. of OK, Gary (Debbie) McConnell of Kincaid, IL, Daniel (Patti) McConnell of Edinburg, IL; Daughters: Sharon (Ron) Sutzer of Chatham & Mardell (Melinda) McConnell of Carlinville, IL; Several Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren; Fiancé: Magel Pearson of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and Son: Lyndon McConnell, Granddaughter: Brandy McConnell, Brothers: Ray and Don; Sisters: Hazel, Helen, Hilda and Ruth. 


Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Old Stonington Cemetery in Rural Stonington, IL with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. The family will be having a celebration of life service at a later date.

Vicky L. Vice

Vicky L. Vice, 61, of Riverton, passed away at 4:09 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Vicky was born June 24, 1958 in Crossville, TN, the daughter of Monte “Louis” and Polly (Deck) Farmer II. She graduated from Edinburg High School in 1976. Vicky married Larry D. Vice on September 10, 1978 at West Side Christian Church in Springfield. She worked in the insurance industry her entire career, first for Franklin Life Insurance Company for almost 20 years, and most recently Standard Mutual Insurance Company for another 20 years.

Vicky is survived by her husband, Larry D. Vice of Riverton; children, Rick (companion, Theresa Bouvet) Vice of Riverton, Amy (Garrett) Cook of Edinburg, and Monice (Douglas) Ziegler of Cantrall; grandchildren, Ryan Golab-Vice, Andrew Cook, Connor Cook, and Kaitlyn Ziegler; great grandchild, Hudson Vice; father, Monte “Louis” Farmer II of Edinburg; siblings, Jackie (Don) Kendall of Edinburg, Karen (Dennis) Dulakis of Edinburg, Susan (Coy) Squires of Riverton, and Monte “Butch” Farmer III of Edinburg; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville. In keeping with CDC guidelines, only ten guests at a time will be allowed to visit with the family.

Private family ceremonies will be held with Dennis Hudson officiating, followed by interment at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

Eddie H. Harris

Eddie H. Harris, 71, of Taylorville, passed away at 11:38 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his residence.

Eddie was born July 17, 1948 in Stanford, KY, the son of Lloyd and Ella (Simpson) Harris.  He married Brenda J. Titran on December 8, 1969 at Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville, and they later divorced.  Eddie then married Marsha McKinnon on May 3, 1980, and they later divorced.  He then remarried Brenda (Titran) Harris on September 23, 2005.

 

Eddie worked for Peabody #10 for many years until his retirement in 1994.  He is a member of the NRA, Quail Forever, and the United Mine Workers of America.  Eddie enjoyed anything that had to do with hunting or guns.  He may have been a man of little words, but he was as ornery as can be.  Eddie was an avid NASCAR fan, and he enjoyed Western T.V. shows and movies.  His favorite pastime was meeting with his coffee club at Country Kitchen and Spring Garden.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Eddie H. Harris, Jr.; sisters, Bessie Harris, Sally Pankey, and Debbie Meyers; and brothers, Dewey, Kirby, and Ralph Harris.

 

Eddie is survived by his wife, Brenda J. Harris of Taylorville; children, Angela (Gary) Harris Dain of Taylorville, David (Tammy) Harris of Palmer, Jennifer (Sean) Farris of Rochester, Jaclyn Harris of Tuttle, OK, and Jillian Shull of Kincaid; step-children, Phillip Windell of Taylorville, and Dana (David) Molloy of Stillwater, OK; grandchildren, Jesse (Tori) Dain, Shelbie Harris, Shawnie Harris, Austin Harris, Shaylie Harris, Ella Farris, Kolten Harris, Kyler Harris, Rylee Shull, Alivia Shull, Jayden Shull, Preston Shull, Tanner Shull; step-grandchildren, Randy McKee and Sarah Molloy; great grandchildren, Jace Dain and Natalie Harris; siblings, Eva Martin of Stanford, KY, Etta (Paul) Cochran of Stanford, KY, John Harris of Taylorville, Julie Lowis of Taylorville, Alvin “Chip” (Denise) Harris of Taylorville, and Jimmy (Chris) Harris of Assumption; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

 

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 10:00-1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville.  In keeping with CDC guidelines, only ten guests at a time will be allowed to visit with the family.

 

Private family ceremonies will be held, followed by interment at Pleasant View Cemetery in Assumption.

Missy Lowis-Owens

Missy Lowis-Owens, 45, of Taylorville, passed away at 2:23 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

 

Missy was born December 28, 1974 in Springfield, the daughter of Vernon G. and Julie V. (Harris) Lowis.  She graduated from Morrisonville High School in 1993, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville.  Missy worked for the Currency Exchange in Decatur for eight years, and then worked as a waitress and bartender for Smokey Bones and Whit’s End.  She loved life, and would do anything to help someone in need.  Missy loved animals, especially her dogs, and she was a loving MiMi to her grandsons.

 

She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Ella Harris; paternal grandfather, Howard Lowis; and several aunts and uncles.

 

Missy is survived by her sons, Tyler (Breanna Seals) Owens of Taylorville, and Dylan (Ashley Raymond) Stockdale of Clarksville, TN; grandsons, Treven and Hendrix Owens of Taylorville; mother, Julie Lowis of Taylorville; father, Vern (Maureen Dowdy) Lowis of Taylorville; sister, Stephanie (Allan Thompson) Thomas of Stonington; grandmother, Wanda Lowis of Taylorville; nieces and nephews, Tawny, Tyler, Toby, and Timmy; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville.  In keeping with CDC guidelines, only ten guests at a time will be allowed to visit with the family.

Clarence Owen Miles

Clarence Owen Miles, 95 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Life’s Journey Senior Living Center in Taylorville, IL. He was born on July 29, 1924 in Audubon, TWP in rural Montgomery County, IL the son of Clarence and Clara (Kroenlein) Miles. He married Helen Smothers on September 3, 1950 in Taylorville, IL. Clarence was a WWII Veteran serving under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. On February 27, 1945 he was wounded and received the Purple Heart, ETO Ribbon, 2 Oak Leaves, Infantry Combat Badge and the Good Conduct Ribbon. Clarence retired from the Adolph Coors Brewing Company in Golden, CO.

He is survived by his wife: Helen Miles of Taylorville, son: Jim of Denver, CO, two granddaughters, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Jeff, four sisters and one brother.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Rosemond Grove Cemetery in Rosamond, IL with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.

Michael D. Sellers

Michael D. Sellers, 65 of Taylorville, passed away at 2:49 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Illinois. He was born on April 12, 1955 in Fair Oaks, California, the son of Fred and Nyrita (Nimrick) Sellers. Mike was an avid fisherman and loved to share stories of his big catches. He was a lover of animals, especially his dog, Gracie. Mike spent countless hours working in his yard on the many flower beds that he kept.

He is survived by his partner of 38 years: Judy Driver; daughters: Anjanette Sheffield (Ron) of Florence, Alabama and Tiffany Sellers of Decatur; brother: Brad Sellers (Tina) of Taylorville; sister: Cindy McDaniel (J.D.) of Waterloo; mother: Nyrita Sellers of Waterloo; 2 grandsons; a nephew and nieces. He will be missed by many others including Judy’s daughters: Shannon Slifer (Doyle) of Champaign and Tanya Michel (Chad) of Edinburg and their children. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Pauline Lindsey

Pauline (Whitmer) Lindsey, 104 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 9:35 p.m. at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana, IL. She was born on July 4, 1915 in Equality, KY in Ohio County the daughter of Arthur and Lottie (Brown) Whitmer. She married Paul “P.J.” Lindsey on September 23, 1933 in the First Baptist Church of Taylorville, IL and they enjoyed 75 years of wedded bliss. Pauline and P.J. Lived in Key Largo, FL for many years until P.J. said “Polly, we have to move back home to Taylorville so our kids can take care of us.” Pauline worked as a homemaker and she was a decorator! Her Creative Talent was evident in her home. If something would hold still, she would paint it. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Taylorville.


She is survived by her Daughters: Judy Adams of Taylorville, IL; Jane Kutch of Taylorville, IL; Son: Jim (Kathy) Lindsey of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Lindsey (John) Schaefer; Kelly (Dennis) Bland of Taylorville, IL; J. Clark (Lee) Frisina of Glen Burney, MD; Lori (Brad) Sassatelli; Brad Adams; Kate (Jack) Frisina-White of St. Louis, MO; Molly Bee (Charlie) Friesland; Jim C. Lindsey; seventeen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandsons: Mark and Scott Adams, sister: Mary Jane Howell and brother: Morton B. Whitmer. 


Private Family Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Pastor Don Beetem officiating.

Linda K. Durbin

Linda K. Durbin, 56 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 10:48 p.m. at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Taylorville. She was born on October 9, 1963 in San Diego, CA the daughter of Rodney and Jane (Brown) Skinner. Linda was a lover of all animals, including her dog and three cats. She loved collecting and creating arts and crafts. She loved the Oakland Raiders, loved watching movies of all kinds but loved anything Marvel. She especially loved spending time with friends and family.


She is survived by her Sons: Aaron (Krissy) House of Taylorville, IL, Brandon (Bethany) House of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Preston House, Lola House, Logan House, Katrina House, Brandon House Jr., Cameron Parker and Miles Parker. Linda was preceded in death by her Parents, and brother: Mark Skinner.


Linda will be cremated and the family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Sally Jean Bryan

Sally Jean Bryan, 83 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 12:15 a.m. at her home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on May 8, 1937 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Tom and Evelyn (Haywood) Marron. She married John A. Bryan on November 10, 1956 in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2008. Sally was a Retired Loan Officer and Assistant Vice President at the First Trust Bank in Taylorville.


She is survived by her Son: Jack T. (Jennifer) Bryan of Liberty Township, OH; Daughters: Julie S. Bryan of Taylorville, IL; Jill A. (Mike) Porter of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Brittni (Jeremy) Gordon, Kristen (Kevin) Hayes, Kimberly (Billy) Durbin, Bradon McConnell (Shonna Muffick), Miranda (Justin) Back, Melanie Bryan (Fiance Cole Menninger) , John Bryan, Marissa Heberling (Fiance Chris Calloway) Shelly (Shawn) Rexroad and Seventeen Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: John A. Bryan and Grandson: Kenneth Porter. 


Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.

Daniel L. Sparks

Daniel L. Sparks, 56, of Taylorville, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

 

Dan was born August 6, 1963 in Springfield, the son of Daniel E. and E. Geraldine “Geri” (Gilmartin) Sparks.  He married Gloria K. Cole on November 5, 1988 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.

 

Dan graduated from Taylorville High School in 1981, and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  He worked in finance his entire career for Wells Fargo, Town & Country Bank, and he was currently employed by the Illinois Department of Insurance as a financial analyst.  Dan was a family man, stoic and steady, but with a great sense of humor.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Blues fan, 80’s Hair Band fan, and he enjoyed traveling and gaming.  Dan was a current member of AFSCME.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, John L. “Jack” Cole.

 

Dan is survived by his wife, Gloria K. Sparks of Taylorville; son, Daniel J. (wife, Grace) Sparks of Collinsville; daughter, Victoria K. Sparks of Taylorville; sisters, Sharon (husband, Leonard) Bernstein and Linda Sparks, both of Aurora, CO; mother-in-law, Kay Cole of Taylorville; sister-in-law, Lori Younker of Taylorville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his faithful companion, Jake.

 

A celebration of life, and inurnment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville will be held at a later date.
