Nancy Ann Natterman Nothdurft

Nancy Ann Natterman Nothdurft, of Taylorville passed away Monday, November 25th at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard, IL.  Known as “The Purple Lady”, she was 81-years old.  Born on July 21st, 1938 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL, Nancy was a 1956 graduate of Taylorville High School.  She went on to graduate from Modernistic Beauty School and joined her mother at Wreatha’s Beauty Salon in Taylorville, serving as a hair dresser until 1980.  Nancy later moved to Springfield and worked for the State of Illinois before retiring in 2002.

 

Nancy is survived by her husband, Ronald W. Nothdurft of Carlinville, her children, Stephen Arthur (Helen) of Downers Grove, IL, Susan Poor Nevitt (Greg) of Springfield and Scott Alan of Joppa, MD, and two grandchildren, Kimberly Elsa Nothdurft and Elyse Ha’Ani Nothdurft.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Paul and Wreatha Violet (nee Poor) Natterman.

 

Friends are requested to participate in a “celebration of life”, commencing at 3P on Saturday, December 14th at the Moose Family Center 1516 in Taylorville.  Private family interment will be at Camp Butler in Springfield.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of Nancy Natterman Nothdurft are requested to be sent to All American Dachshund Rescue, 2150 Highway 64, Lewisburg, TN 37091 or via their website (allamericandachshundrescue.org).

Michael L. Shinneman

Michael L. Shinneman, 59, of Decatur, passed away at 4:12 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2019 in his home. He was born on July 17, 1960 in Lexington, Kentucky. Michael is survived by his parents: Mary Jane (Davis) Woodard, and husband Jerry A. Woodard of Morrisonville and Danny L. Christman of Tower Hill; sons: Michael L. Shinneman Jr. (Anna) of Pontoon Beach, Christopher D. Shinneman of Taylorville, and Joseph E. Shinneman of Taylorville; 6 grandchildren; brothers: Brian E. Shinneman of Taylorville, Steven R. Shinneman of Morrisonville, Daniel R. Christman (Michelle) of Sydney; sisters: Rachael Shinneman of Bloomington, Malissa Taylor (Frank) of Taylorville, Malinda DuBois (Tom) of Mustang, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Mr. Shinneman previously attended Richland Community College and also earned a certificate in mechanics. He was a fan of Sci-Fi movies as well as westerns and was a history buff, especially of World War II and was an avid reader.

 

A memorial visitation in honor of Mike will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville. James Michael Schuerman

James Michael Schuerman, 76, of Nokomis, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Heritage Health in Pana.  He was born on September 21, 1943 in Decatur, the son of Kenneth F. and Martha (Duncan) Schuerman.  He married Grace Sally Whitlow on June 7, 1975 in Decatur.  Mr. Schuerman previously worked as a locksmith for his father, in maintenance, and most recently as a van driver for Fayco Enterprises.  Jim and Grace served as foster parents to many children throughout the years.  Jim had an artistic talent and enjoyed coloring and drawing and crafted many nativity scenes from different materials.  He enjoyed fishing and making others laugh.


He is survived by his wife: Grace Schuerman of Nokomis; mother: Martha Schuerman of Decatur; children: Evelyn Cloe (Marty) of Tower Hill, April Balestri (Gailon) of Eagarville, Cris Schuerman of Nokomis, and Crystal Linton (Greg) of Branson, Missouri; daughter-in-law: Kasey Schuerman of Indiana; grandchildren: Paul Balestri, Gracelynn Balestri, and Hunter Schuerman; siblings: Kenneth Schuerman of Washington State, Linda Gregory (Clyde) of Oakley, and Joseph Schuerman (Cindy) of Carol Stream; brother-in-law: Mike Watson of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.  Jim was preceded in death by his father; son: Charles Schuerman; and sister: Patty Watson.


In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Schuerman will be cremated no services will be held.  Memorials may be made to the Schuerman family. Ida Eileen Brooks Reindl

Ida Eileen Brooks Reindl, 99, of Taylorville passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on December 30, 1919 in Taylorville, the daughter of Worthy and Ida (Dilbeck) Brooks.  She married George Leroy Reindl on February 5, 1939 in Taylorville.  Leroy preceded her in death on March 25, 2001.  


Mrs. Reindl was active for many years as a 4-H leader, member of the Christian County Historical Society, Home Extension, Eagles, and the Christian County Senior Citizens.  She was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church.  She enjoyed making quilts and scrap books for her family.  


She is survived by her daughter: Shirley (Roy) Truax of Assumption; special bonus great grandson: Aidan Greenberg of Bridgeton, Missouri; brother-in-law: Russell Reindl of Nokomis, many nieces and nephews, and very special friend: Kitty Chance of Taylorville.  Mrs. Reindl was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter: Kim Greenberg and her husband Bari; sisters: Laura Jean Hussellton, Carrie Bell Brooks; and brother: Chester Dilbeck.


A funeral service for Mrs. Reindl will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville officiated by Elder Lori Smothers.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral.  Burial will be in the Mt. Genova McChristy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Genova McChristy, age 99, of Stonington, on Thursday, November 28, 2019. Born in June, 1920, to James Thomas and Alta Rape Durbin, she married F. Wesley McChristy in June, 1940. He preceded her in death in March, 1966.

 

Genova lived a full life as a homemaker and worked in the retail business for several years after becoming a widow. She attended school in Taylorville, graduating with the class of 1939. She enjoyed social occasions with several of the “39ers” until the last few years. She was an active member of the Ansarettes and member of the Christian County Homemakers Extension for more than 70 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and happiest spending time with her family and friends and attending their activities.

 

Survivors include daughter, Nancy McChristy Dowdy, sons, David (Susan) McChristy, and Mac (Cynthia) McChristy and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou McChristy all of Stonington; proud grandmother to Frank McChristy, Michael McChristy, Tim Dowdy, Bruce Dowdy, Stacey Niemann, Stephanie Heberling, Bonnie Fleming, Scott McChristy, Ben McChristy, Kelley McChristy; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Evelyn Yurdin; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding her in death were her husband; sons, Bill McChristy and Joe McChristy; one great grandchild; parents; siblings, Darrell Durbin; Theodore Durbin and Fayetta Robinson.

 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL with Pastor Marge Overlot officiating and interment immediately following in Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington, IL.

Patricia L. Tucker

Patricia L. Tucker, 79 of Taylorville, formerly of Petersburg, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in her home. She was born on October 11, 1940 in Moline, the daughter of Dale and Emily (Krass) Patterson. She married Michael Tucker on February 22, 1964 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island, and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2012. Mrs. Tucker was a homemaker and treasured raising her daughter.  She was a member of Grace Community Church in Springfield. In her younger years, she enjoyed crafting, and she always loved reading a good book. 

 

Mrs. Tucker is survived by her daughter, Dawn M. Tucker, and her grandson, Brent Walch, both of Taylorville; siblings: Jim (Melody) Patterson, Sandra (Frank) Jones, and Ron Schneckloth. Along with her husband of nearly 48 years, Patricia was preceded in death by her parents.

 

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home, with Pastor Dan Shaner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Mary Jane Rhoads

Mary Jane Rhoads, 102, formerly of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 6:02 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019 at her residence in St. Charles, MO.
 
Mary Jane was born March 29, 1917 in Pawnee, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Anna (McLean) Kinney.  She married Bernard John Rhoads on November 23, 1939 at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville.  He preceded her in death on May 30, 1956.

 

Mary Jane graduated from Morrisonville High School.  For over 25 years she worked for the United States Postal Service as a clerk and Post Mistress for the Owaneco post office.  She also worked as a waitress at Fisher’s in Owaneco after she would get off work at the post office.  Mary Jane was a long-time member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, current member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles, MO, American Legion Auxiliary, Kiwanis, National Catholic Society of Forester’s, Altar and Rosary Society, and the Hospital Auxiliary.  She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning, and she was an avid reader.  Mary Jane also enjoyed baking, and was famous for her cinnamon rolls.

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Raymond, Richard, and Joseph Rhoads; and siblings, Louis Kinney, Irene Brockamp, Edward Kinney, Dorothy Krager, and Jim Kinney.

 

Mary Jane is survived by her son, Jack B. (wife, Barbara) Rhoads of Lady Lake, FL; daughters, Barbara (husband, Harley) Cole of St. Charles, MO, and Terry (husband, Larry) Haare of Louisville, KY; 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Teresa Rhoads of Litchfield, IL, Ann Kinney of Columbus, OH, and Wanda Kinney of St. Augustine Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation & Funeral Mass: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at St. Maurice Catholic Church, 706 SE 4th St., Morrisonville, IL 62546, with The Very Rev. Albert Allen, V.F. as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Marilyn Dulakis

Mrs. Marilyn Dulakis, 70, of Tovey, IL passed from this life at 2:59 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2019 at Taylorville Care Center.

 

She was born in Batchtown, IL May 3, 1949 the daughter of Paul and Rosalie (Pluester) Funk. Marilyn married Gus Dulakis, Jr. April 3, 1971 in Springfield, IL.

 

Mrs. Dulakis briefly worked for the State of Illinois. She was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church, and The Kincaid American Legion Post #905 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Illini play. Marilyn, along with her husband Gus, have been active volunteers for many years with the South Fork Sports Boosters, helping to coordinate the kitchen for bingo.

 

Surviving are her husband Gus of Tovey, IL 3 sons: Steve (wife Kelly) Dulakis of Kincaid, IL; Michael (wife Wendy) Dulakis of Kincaid, IL; David (wife Amie) Dulakis of Chatham, IL; a daughter Karen (husband Dustin) Schlindwein of Pawnee, IL; 7 grandchildren: Jordan (wife Abby) Jackson, Markus Dulakis, Makayla Dulakis, Austin Tryon, Grace Dulakis, Taylor Schlindwein, and Nora Schlindwein, and 1 great-grandson Maverick Jackson, 2 sisters: Ellen Funk and Barbara Funk both of Jerseyville, IL 4 brothers: Bill (wife Michelle) Funk of Grafton, IL; Kenny Funk of Lyndon, IL; Raymond (wife Vicki) Funk of Waterloo, IL; and Phillip (wife Wendy) Funk of Chicago, IL, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law Debra Funk.

 

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid, IL. Visitation for Mrs. Marilyn Dulakis will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rita’s. Interment of her ashes will be at a later date. Brett Arthur McElmurray

Brett Arthur McElmurray, 63 of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 10:20 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on February 10, 1956 in St. Louis, MO the son of Dr. Calvin H. and Patricia (Love) McElmurray. He retired from the United States Navy where he worked as a Jet Mechanic, MOS and for the NIS, Naval Investigative Services.

 

He is survived by his Daughter: Beth Ann McElmurray-Woodcock of Moweaqua, IL; Grandchildren: Caden Woodcock and Dalton Woodcock; Sister: Gayla (Randy) McElmurray-Havener of Springfield, IL; Nieces: Misty Long, Brittany Havener, Caitlyne Long and Brianna Long; Nephews: Brandon Havener and Brett Long all of Springfield, IL; his Navy Brother and Best Friend Rick Welchel and his loving Dog Duke. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son: Matthew.

Edna Jewell Price

Edna Jewell Price, 89 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 7:15 p.m. at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, IL. She was born on September 29, 1930 in Clay County, TN the daughter of Grover and Edna (Wilson) Carter. She married Lewis Price on April 11, 1946 in Franklin, KY and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1994. Edna worked as a homemaker and she was affiliated with the Church of Christ. She loved to play cards, sew, garden, and she loved her family time.


She is survived by her Sons: Robert Louis (Mary) Price of O’Fallon, IL; Michael Francis (Diana) Price of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Carol Faye Price-Waterman of Taylorville, IL; Judith Ann (Gene) Price-Durbin of Taylorville, IL; Donna Jewell (Vernon) Price Minix of Taylorville, IL; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Son: Richard Price, 3 brothers: Louis Haywood Carter, Wesley Frank Carter, James Lynn Carter, 4 sisters: Reba Marie Newman, Ruth Jean Clements, Bertha Lee Copas, Barbara Ann Russell and son-in-Law: Mike Waterman. 


Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be immediately following the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor James Jones officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Marjorie M. Milby

Marjorie M. Milby, 74, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at home on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 with her loved ones by her side.

Marjorie was born on December 14, 1944, in Shelby County, the daughter of Earl and Helen (Walborn) Mose. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1962. Marjorie and Joseph Floyd Milby were united in holy matrimony on June 25, 1965 and he preceded her in death in March of 1991. Through the years she worked at Guy’s Steak House, Hardees, McDonalds and Freda’s in Tower Hill. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing bingo and quilting.

Surviving are her children: Amy (Joe) Adams of Cowden, Bill (Emily) Milby of Mode, Wes Milby of Springfield, MO and John (Heather) Milby of Pana; grandchildren: Brandon Adams (Jessie), Tasha (Donny) McAdams, Laura Milby, Andrea Milby, Vanessa Williams, Gracie Jo Milby, Quintan Miller, Caleb Miller, Zadie Miller and Mallory Miller; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Delores (Glen) Blackwell of Shelbyville and Janet (Bob) Randolph of Murphysboro and special friend, Bob Giberson of Lakewood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers Gaylord and David Mose.

Private family burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.

Nola Mae (Vincent) LeFever

Nola Mae (Vincent) LeFever, 81, of Palmer, will forever be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends. Nola passed away on November 19, 2019 at 7:55 p.m. at Life’s Journey Senior Living Center in Taylorville. Nola was born on October 26, 1938 in her family’s home in rural Christian County to Hester Ann (West) Vincent and Charles Vincent. She married Leland LeFever on March 24, 1957 in Stonington.

With family always being in the forefront of her life, that dedication carried on for many many years. From being the youngest of the ten surviving children, to having her own four children onto her twelve grandchildren and then four great-grandchildren. Her lifetime dedication to her family continues on while bringing her children up in the United Methodist Church of Morrisonville. Nola also worked daily hand in hand with her husband on their farm outside of Palmer, driving the tractors, trucks, delivering grain to and fro, preparing all the meals and keeping her family life moving along. In the early years of their family, they kept Steve and Susie entertained by being a part of the Twist n Twirl Square Dance Club, numerous camping trips all over the United States with the TnT Camping Club and following the older two children in the school activities. Continuing on their family tradition of traveling when the second half of their family arrived, they kept Sara and Stacey entertained with traveling throughout the United States and following them in their sporting activities and musical activities with the school. Nola lived life to the fullest daily, for example by never passing up a chance to ride any water ride with her girls, starting each ride by laughing and yelling, “ARE YOU READY?!?!”.

Nola’s love of her family will shine on for many years through her living legacy; four children, twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Steve LeFever of Morrisonville, Susan (Joe) Saputo of Rochester, Sara (Jason) Wake of Tovey and Stacey (Tom) Kirkman of Williamsville. Grandchildren; Renea (Rob) Coberly, Stephanie LeFever, Jen (Thom) Blinkinsop, Andrew Owens, Greg (Sarah) Owens, Gabe Owens, Haylee Kirkman, Zach Wake, Vincent Wake, Aubrey Kirkman, Lilly Wake and Wesley Kirkman. Great-grandchildren; Camryn, Cooper and Callum Coberly and Henry Owens. Nola’s family does not stop there, she is survived by many family members. Survived by her siblings; Mary (Harry) Elliott, Dorothy Moffett, Dixie Vincent, Maxine Vincent, Janice Vincent and Elaine (Fred) Vangeison. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland LeFever, parents: Hester Ann (West) Vincent and Charles Vincent and several siblings: Willard (Dorothy) Vincent, Ernest (Betty) Vincent, Eunice (Albert) White, Frank Vincent, Charles (Rosemary) Vincent, Elwood Moffett, Warren Vincent and Fred Vincent.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Dayle Badman officiating. Burial will be held in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.

Nola had Progressive Supernuclear Palsy (PSP) , which is a rare form of Parkinson’s. The family wishes for memorials to be made to Cure PSP.

Carl Vernon England

Carl Vernon England, 89 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:58 p.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL. He was born on December 15, 1929 in Rose Township in Shelby County, IL the son of Clinton J. and Agnes (Brown) England. He married Linda and she preceded him in death. Carl retired from Fiat Allis.

He is survived by his Daughter: Vickie (Steve) Shaw of Carlinville, IL; Daughter-in-Law: Glenda England of Carlinville, IL; Grandchildren: Victor England of Jacksonville, IL; Tammy (Jim) England-Chism of Carlinville, IL; Tyler Shaw of Carlinville, IL; Great-Grandchildren: Andrea and Damian England of Litchfield, IL and step- daughter: Tina Fleming of Taylorville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sons: Vernon and Raymond England.

It was Carl’s wishes to be cremated. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Leonard "Gene" Dilley

Leonard “Gene” Dilley, 78, of Tower Hill, IL passed away peacefully at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Heritage Health in Pana, IL with his loved ones by his side.

Gene was born on January 29, 1941, in Henton, the 14th of 17 children born to John and Estella (Sanford) Dilley. Gene and Debbie Porter were united in holy matrimony on November 10, 1990 and were blessed with nearly 30 years of marriage. Gene was a member of the Laborers’ International Union and enjoyed mushroom hunting, woodworking and was a die-hard Cardinals fan.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie Dilley of Tower Hill; children: Billy Dilley of Tower Hill, Michael Dilley of Tower Hill and Aaron (Heidi) Porter of Henton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Jones of Pana and Letha Thomas of Alabama; one brother, Woody (Nell) Dilley of Olney and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda; five sisters and eight brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Pastor Leon Goff officiating. Burial will take place in Tower Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Memorials may be made in Gene’s name to the American Kidney Fund or the American Diabetes Association.

Patrick "Patty" Dale Whalen

Patrick “Patty” Dale Whalen, 90, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Life’s Journey Senior Living in Taylorville, IL.
 
Patty was born November 19, 1928 in Farmersville, IL, the son of Patrick Leo and Ella Josephine (Marten) Whalen.  He married Patricia Jean Vota on February 18, 1954 at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville, and they have enjoyed over 65 years of marriage.

 

Patty graduated from Morrisonville High School in 1946, where he was an excellent, multi-sport athlete.  He was a life-long farmer, but always made time to give back to his community.  Patty was a long-time member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1151, and he spent many years coaching little league baseball.  He also enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, and golf, making 5 holes-in-one over the years.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo, Bill, and Clyde Whalen; and sisters, Sr. Mary Patrick, OSF, Mildred DeFeo, Luella Eickhoff, and Marjorie Mormino.

 

Patty is survived by his wife, Patricia Whalen of Morrisonville, IL; children, Joseph (wife, Dianne) Whalen of Jacksonville, FL, Marcia Nicklas of Springfield, IL, Patrick “Andy” (wife, Connie) Whalen of Morrisonville, IL, and Thomas (wife, Jane) Whalen of Chatham, IL; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Mormino of Taylorville, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation & Prayer Service: The visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. and conclude at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin St., Morrisonville, IL 62546.

 

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at St. Maurice Catholic Church, 706 SE 4th St., Morrisonville, IL 62546 with the Very Rev. Albert Allen, V.F. celebrant.

 

Interment will follow at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Mrs. Dolores L. DeRocchi, 88, of Taylorville, IL passed from this life on Friday, November 15, 2019 at her home with family by her side.  She was born in Jeisyville, IL September 28, 1931 the daughter of August and Angelina (Cambruzzi) Castellani.  She married Bruno A. DeRocchi June 28, 1952 in Kincaid, IL and he preceded her in death June 5, 2011.  Mrs. DeRocchi enjoyed playing Bocce Ball, going to the riverboats and spending time with family and friends.  She worked for many years on the square in Taylorville at stores including PN Hirsch, Sherman's and Jubelt's Bakery.  Surviving are a daughter Annetta (Steve) Goss of Noblesville, IN a son David DeRocchi of Taylorville, IL 3 grandchildren Abbey Goss, Michael Goss and Katy (Steve) Lively, 3 great grandchildren Amelia Goss, Whitman and Esme Lively along with many nieces, nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bruno, a sister Emma Fesser and a brother Primo Castellani.  Visitation for Mrs. DeRocchi will be held from 10 am till Noon on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 with funeral services immediately following at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  You may visit her on-line obituary and leave condolences which will be printed and given to the family at www.mastersonfh.com. Phyllis Rosalie Gorden

Phyllis Rosalie Gorden, 92, of Taylorville passed away at 12:42 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  She was born on August 16, 1927 in Taylorville, the daughter of William R. and Mildred G. (Followell) Shivers.  Rosalie graduated from Taylorville High School with the class of 1945.  She married E.O. Duncan and they later divorced.  She married Richard Fore and he preceded her in death and later married Haldon Gorden who also preceded her in death.  Rosalie was a member of the Taylorville First United Methodist Church and an auxiliary member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, and American Legion.  She enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family in Myrtle Beach and several winters spent in Mission, Texas.  Rosalie was an avid card player throughout her life and had a passion for playing poker.  She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home.  


Rosalie is survived by her daughter: Cheryl Huggins (Jay) of Taylorville; granddaughter:  Susan Huggins of Downers Grove; step-son: Richard Fore of Pana; step-grandchildren: Rick Fore of Pana, Michelle Larson (Jeff) of Escondido, California, and Jonathan Fore of Mobile, Alabama; 3 step-great grandsons and 1 step-great granddaughter; sister: JoAnn Newland of Decatur; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands; and sisters: Jean Kallal and Mary Joye.


The funeral service for Rosalie will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Taylorville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Eugene Griffiths

Kevin Eugene Griffiths, 54, of Taylorville, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He was born on January 6, 1965 in Taylorville.  Kevin enjoyed hunting and fishing, most recently at the ponds in Manners Park.  


He is survived by his parents: Shirley & Wayne Callaway of Taylorville; sister: Tammy Walker (Mike) of Edinburg; brother: Kenneth Mottershaw (Michelle) of Kincaid; aunt: Sharon Koonce of Taylorville; niece: Whitney Walker; and nephews: Lane Walker, Zane Mottershaw, and Zeph Mottershaw.  He was preceded in death by his sister: Tracy Lynn Griffiths.  


Kevin will be cremated, and his remains will be buried at Oak Hill Cemetery.  No services will be held.

Glenda "Peanut" Jean Hunt

Glenda “Peanut” Jean Hunt, 49 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 6:26 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born on June 16, 1970 in Champaign, IL the daughter of Ray Oliver and Peggy Longhbaugh. She loved to spend time with her family, going to the lake, she loved to paint and refurbish furniture. She was a dedicated nurse and her favorite show was Frasier.


She is survived by her Companion: Jay Hunt of Taylorville, IL; Son: Gaven Hunt of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Taylor Hunt of Taylorville, IL; Sisters: Peggy “Muff” Brown of Taylorville, IL; Jackie “Tootie” (Jimmy) Dean of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Shirley M. Evans

Shirley M. Evans, 84, of Cowden, IL passed away at 1:18 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, IL after a lengthy illness.

Shirley was born on May 21, 1935, in Pana, the daughter of Wayne and Rosie Hicks. She and Charles R. Evans were married on March 31, 1956 in Pana. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2014. Shirley and Charles enjoyed going to country music shows and talking on the CB radio. They belonged to the All Nighter’s CB Club in Herrick. They enjoyed going to CB jamborees where they were known as Blonde Bomber and Country Charlie. They won several awards for their unique outfits. Shirley was famous for her elephant ears which she sold at the local fairs and festivals for 29 years. She never met a stranger and she adored her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly.

Shirley is survived by her children: Charles Warren (Rhonda) Evans of Cowden; Debbie Herbord of Pana, Connie Miller of Pana and Robert (Sheli) Evans of Cowden; grandchildren: Joshua (Amber) Evans, Christopher (Melissa) Evans, Joya Evans, Blake Evans, Tiffany Miller, Amanda Evans and Colton Evans and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Rosie Hicks; husband, Charles; infant granddaughter Stephanie and her siblings: Warren Hicks, Nellie Zahradka, Bernice Coleman, Helen Sarver and Mary Lou Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will take place in Mound Cemetery in rural Cowden. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. James Edgar Dipert

Mr. James Edgar Dipert, 72, of Taylorville, IL, passed away Saturday, November 9th in the comfort of his home. His family is grateful to Jaclyn Pugsley for her kind, faithful care that made this possible and to Hospice for providing extra support during his final two weeks.


Jim was born January 5, 1947, in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Orlo and Jean (Killingbeck) Dipert. He married Cynthia Marie Hartwig on June 29, 1968, in Michigan City, and they shared 46 wonderful years before her passing on July 14, 2014.


Mr. Dipert was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church in Kincaid. He trained to be a baker at Oklahoma State Tech and spent most of his career with Kroger and County Market. In 2009, he opened his own bakery in Taylorville, Confection Connections. Jim was as sweet as the treats he made, always lending a hand to help anyone and everyone. He was an active volunteer for Kincaid Meals on Wheels, loved boating, traveling the world with his wife, and spending time with friends.


Mr. Dipert is survived by his brother, Richard Dipert of Michigan City, IN, his sister, Patricia Street of Jackson, MI, several nieces and nephews, his "adopted" grandson, Miles Campbell, "adopted" granddaughter, Kendall Moehring, and many close and cherished friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Carol Hunsick of Michigan City, IN, and his wife Cynthia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Kincaid Meals on Wheels.


Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am Friday, November 22 at St. Rita Catholic Church, Kincaid.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to service at the church.

Norma Pauline Eversole, 87, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 5:13 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019, in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Norma was born on May 20, 1932 in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Leverette and Velma (Fitzpatrick) Hardy. She attended school in Westervelt and graduated as valedictorian of Findlay High School in the Class of 1950. Norma was a homemaker and a farm wife. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelbyville and enjoyed working in her flowers, embroidering, reading, and having lunch at Dairy Queen. She married William Paul Eversole on September 16, 1949. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2001.


She is survived by her daughter, Susan E. (John) Hippard of Shelbyville, IL; son, Ronald L. (Doris) Eversole of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Della (Doug) Roberts of Decatur, IL; brother, Dean (Jackie) Hardy of Shelbyville, IL; four grandchildren, Thomas (Kaytlyn) Eversole, Bradley (Nicole) Eversole, John Paul Hippard, and Jessica (Robert) Marrano; and ten great-grandchildren, Audrey and Max Eversole, Giovanna, Robert Jr., Marco, Sophia, Luca, and Dante Marrano, and McKinley and McKenna Hippard.

James L. "Jim" Turner

James L. “Jim” Turner, 59, of Taylorville passed away at 4:39 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He was born on November 3, 1960, the son of James W. and Sharon S. (Franklin) Turner.  Mr. Turner earned an associate degree in electronics and worked many years as a security guard at Ahlstrom and O’Hare Airport in Chicago.  He enjoyed time spend outdoors while fishing, hunting and shooting.  He was a fan of the St. Louis Blues, Baltimore Ravens, NASCAR, and enjoyed playing golf.

 
Jim is survived by his parents: Bill and Sharon Turner; sisters: Tangee Friedrich (Randy) and Cathleen Turner; uncle: Jess Franklin (Lucille); aunt: Delores Hunt all of Taylorville; niece and nephews: Caleb Alsbury, Talon Alsbury, Travis Alsbury, Ashton Turner, and Jesse Turner; and grand-niece: Karissa Alsbury.  Jim will be laid to rest next to his grandparents: Jess and Grace Franklin and Irma and Leroy Turner.

Celeste (Root) King

Celeste (Root) King, 68, of Taylorville, formerly of Assumption, passed away on November 9, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis due to complications from Pulmonary Hypertension.  She was born on January 18, 1951 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, the daughter of Albert and Genevieve (Cazalet) Root.  She married John A. King at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Assumption, on August 24, 1974.  Celeste was a retired hairdresser, nail technician, and bank teller at Regions Bank.  She loved her family and adored her grandchildren more than anything.

 
Mrs. King is survived by her husband: John A. King of Taylorville; children: Stephanie Spresser of South Elgin, IL and son: Chris King of Wendell, North Carolina; grandsons: Evan and Cole Spresser of South Elgin and granddaughter: Kaitlyn King of Hampstead, North Carolina; brother: Bill (Jackie) Root of Maricopa, Arizona; sisters: Michelle Smart and Suzie Helm both of Pana and Jackie (Don) Morrison of Assumption; brother-in-law: Richard Jones of Watseka; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great, nephews, and cousins; and her two cats: BB and Si.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Sandy Jones.

Jessie “Sug/Suggie” Irene Holt (Scallions), 83 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 10:15 a.m. at Hickory Estates in Taylorville, IL. She was born on September 1, 1936 in Henderson County, TN the daughter of Dolphus David and Mamie Alberta (Waller) Scallions. She married Jesse Max Holt on September 30, 1954 and he preceded her in death. She worked for 23 years at Sangamon Card Company and she was the Co-Owner of Mr. T’s Restaurant. Sug enjoyed her family especially all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved Traveling to Florida, Opry Land, Nashville and Branson.  She enjoyed her time with her sisters at Nashville North.  She volunteered at the Calvary Baptist Church nursery for many years where she was a member, and SHADOW Home.

Pamela McConnell, 63 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 8:09 a.m. at her home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on June 28, 1956 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Mick and Pat (Sparling) Emmerling. She married Lyndon McConnell on July 7, 2007 in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2012. Pam worked as the Principal at South Elementary School in Taylorville. She was a member of the Taylorville Moose Lodge #1416, Alpha PHI and the National Education Association. Pam loved her kids and grandkids and was passionate about her career as an educator. In her free time, she loved spending time with her friends and traveling.

Mary Tanner Michel

Mary Tanner Michel, 95 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 2:20 a.m. at Hickory Estates in Taylorville, IL. She was born on February 15, 1924 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of William Richard and Irma Pearl (Muman) Tanner. She married Eugene Michel on August 3, 1941 in Palmyra, MO and he preceded her in death on September 8, 2004. Mary was a past member of the center Unit of HCEA and Red Hat Ladies. She loved making bears and giving them to family and friends, she enjoyed shopping and occasionally going to the casino. She also loved spending time with her family.

 
She is survived by her Sons: Carl (Shirley) Michel of Pawnee, IL; Paul (Maureen) Michel of Burlington, IA; Bruce (Tanya) Michel; Daughters: Frances (George) Oros of Marion, IL; Cynthia (Merle) Simmons of Mt. Auburn, IL; Karen Yeaman (Robert Brandis) of Taylorville, IL; eight Grandchildren; nineteen Great-Grandchildren; three Great-Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and three sisters. 


Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

Chiquita AnaLois (Wicker) Henn

Chiquita AnaLois (Wicker) Henn, 75 , of Assumption, was reunited with her husband, while surrounded by her family in her home, November 4, 2019.

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption.  Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to service time.  Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.  Memorials may be made to the family.

 

Chiquita was born February 4, 1944 in Steele, MO, the daughter of Jesse and Bernice (Hardin) Wicker.  She married Michael “Mick” Henn February 4, 1976 in Savannah, TN.  He preceded her in death July 12, 2019.

 

Surviving are her sons: Kenny (Lisa) Lindahl of Tower Hill, IL and Brian (Theresa) Lindahl of Springfield, IL; daughters: Kayla (Rick) Bingaman, Sr. of Blue Mound, IL and Christie (Jim) Moore of Taylorville, IL; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and sisters: Priscilla Neal and Monica (Jim) Wicker, all of Assumption, IL.

 

Chiquita was a member of the Assumption VFW Tacusah Post #6577 Ladies Auxiliary.  She worked at Taylorville Transit Bus Company and as a CNA.  Chiquita and her husband were foster parents for over 20 years.  She had a big heart and was the foundation of her family.  She always had a big smile on her face.

 

Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Dolores E. (Tolliver) Ketchum

Dolores E. (Tolliver) Ketchum, 86, of Taylorville, passed away at 12:38 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Taylorville Care Center with her three loving daughters at her side.


Dolores was born February 5, 1933 in Taylorville, the daughter of Otto and Dorothy Tolliver and natural parents Otto and Eileen Boch.  She married Roy Eugene “Gene” Ketchum, Jr. on March 27, 1949 at the Methodist Parsonage in Hillsboro, and they enjoyed over 63 years of marriage.  He preceded her in death on January 17, 2013.


Dolores attended Taylorville High School and went on to be a devoted homemaker.  She loved to dance, spending many years as a member of Charlie’s Angels tap group.  Dolores enjoyed a good boardgame or game of cards and absolutely loved flower gardening and tending to her landscape.  She was a long-time member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Taylorville.


She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Shue; and son-in-law, David Shue.


Dolores is survived by her daughters, Sheryl (Dave) Brasche of Taylorville, Phyllis “P.J.” Greenwalt of Edinburg and Joni Havener of Taylorville; grandchildren, Ryan Brasche of TN, Michael (Kelly) DeClerck of Taylorville, Jared Brasche of Taylorville, Heidi Shue of FL, Tiffany (Christopher) Scott of FL, Joshua (Dee) Shue of FL, Caleb (Lauren) Shue of FL, Jennifer (Taylor) Roe of TN, Alicia (Jason) Gelnett of TN and Amanda Winner of TN; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and brother, Larry Tolliver of Taylorville.


Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 1:30 p.m. until the time of ceremony at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin St., Taylorville, IL 62568.
Interment will follow the ceremony at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.

Frances Marie Kelmel-Frost

Frances Marie Kelmel-Frost, 90, of Taylorville, passed away at 7:38 a.m., on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.


Frances was born November 20, 1928 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Clarence Cecil and Beatrice (Lange) Oakley.  She married Harold W. “Shorty” Kelmel in 1951, and they later divorced.  Frances then married Robert Gene Frost, and he preceded her in death March 7, 2001.


Frances was a devoted homemaker.  Nothing in life made her happier, than when her entire family was together.  Frances enjoyed cooking for them, and crocheting many different things for them.  She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and listening to country music on the radio.  Frances was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, and the National Catholic Society of Foresters in Morrisonville. 


She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Brenda Kelmel; sons, Lawrence and David Kelmel; grandson, Philip Schwab; brothers, James and Russell Oakley; and sisters, Edna Slightom, Kathryn Schommer, Virginia Fleigle, Margaret Boyd, and Jacquelyn Oakley.


Frances is survived by her children, Philip (Susie) Kelmel of Morrisonville, Ann (Bob) Nation of Stonington, Susan (Kevin) Moomey of Morrisonville, James (Sharon) Kelmel of Morrisonville, and Bill (Dwanna) Kelmel of Taylorville; grandchildren, Chris (Tina) Kelmel, Derek Kelmel, Sandra (Chuck) Miller, Shelly (Duane) White, John (Carmen) Nation, Vince (Andrea) Schwab, Adam (Wendy) Schwab, Patrick Moomey, Cody (Lindsay) Moomey, Heather Moomey, Nickie (Dale) Wix, Rachel (Jeff) Bethard, Chrissy (Brad) Tellor, and Lindsay (Rob) Skinner; great grandchildren, Ryan, Laney, Nolan, Brooklyn, Phoenix, Spencer, Montgomery, Kayden, Rhianna, Jazmyn, Izzabelle, Benjamin, Chase, Hallie, Stella, Leah, Shayna, Ryann, Lily, Alexzia, Layla, Benson, Arlo, Addie, Zac, Kim, Ashton, Logan, Clayton, Justice, Bryeson, Chase, Mason, and Madison; great-great grandson, Knox; sister, Ruth Hefley of Hillsboro; best friend, Barbara McKinnon of Taylorville; and several nieces and nephews.


Cremation will be provided prior ceremonies.

Andrew "Andy" John Kolenich

Andrew “Andy” John Kolenich, 81, of Auburn, IL passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at his home in Auburn. He was born on February 19, 1938 in Auburn, the son of Andrew and Cecelia (Bottino) Kolenich. He married Joyce Grossner on May 28, 1959 in Auburn. Andy worked in heating and cooling at Dickey-John in Auburn. He loved to fish and he especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also a die-hard Steelers fan. Andy was a member of the Divernon Resi Sportsmans Club in Divernon.


He is survived by his Wife: Joyce Kolenich of Auburn, IL; Children: Cynthia (Dave) Jones, Michael (Sallie) Kolenich, Monica (Sean) O’Rourke, Susan (Kevin) Crum; Grandchildren: Kyle Jones, Zachary Jones, Ashley (Jason) Sharp, Miranda (Austin) Peters, Madison Kolenich, Ashley (Erik) Hackney, Matthew (Michele) O’Rourke, Patrick O’Rourke, Andrew (Kayla) Crum and Michael (Shannon) Crum, Sister: Mary Ann Pierce, Three Great-Grandsons and 2 Great-Granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and his Brother: Robert Kolenich.


Friends and family may come and share memories on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Auburn Community Center in Auburn, IL. It was Andy’s wishes to be cremated and have an inurnment at a later date.

Marshall Douglas Lowe

Marshall Douglas Lowe, 64 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 14, 1954 in Chicago, IL the son of William H. and Virginia M. Lowe. He married Donna Simpson on November 5, 2005 in Taylorville, IL. Marshall was the owner of Lowe’s Paving & Sealcoating and he was a member of the Moose Lodge #1516 in Taylorville. Marshall was known for his very strong work ethic. He started his business with a tank in the back of a pickup truck and over 20 years of hard work and determination, built it into a very successful paving, sealcoating and striping business. When he wasn't out working with asphalt, you could find him at home working on any number of projects. He enjoyed spending time outside working in his yard, gardening, woodworking, and building birdhouses with his grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His favorite spot was the deck that he built with his grandson overlooking the creek in his backyard. Above all else, he loved his family and they loved, admired and respected him. He was a force in their lives, and his absence will leave a void that can never possibly be filled.


He is survived by his Wife: Donna J. Lowe of Taylorville, Children: Christina (Nathan) Frisch of Taylorville, Michael (Walkis) Lowe of Chicago, Nicole (Hector) Flores of Chicago, Amanda (Luke) Daugherty of Taylorville, Krista Simpson of Austin, TX, Garrett (Amanda) Simpson of Kincaid, IL and Sarah Simpson and Companion Alex Rogers of Taylorville, Grandchildren: Alexis, Xavier, Tyler and Trevor Flores; Anneliese, Michael and Kaylee Lowe all of Chicago; Johanna, Julia, Blake and Brock Daugherty all of Taylorville and Nora Simpson of Kincaid; Sister: Loretta Allen and Companion Luke Fiore of Glen Ellyn, IL; Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law: Fred and Dorothy Durbin of Taylorville, Aunt: Nancy Baker of Taylorville and many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: William Lowe and Ronald Lowe.  


Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation starting at 7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Tim R. Emerson

Tim R. Emerson, Sr. 78, of rural Moweaqua, IL formerly of Taylorville, IL passed away at 9:00 P.M. Thursday, October 31, 2019 at his home. He was born December 2, 1940 in Taylorville, IL the son of Jacob and Edith (Reber) Emerson. Mr. Emerson married Connie Kroener on March 2, 1966 in Taylorville, IL and she survives. Also surviving are a son Tim (wife Kim) Emerson Jr of Taylorville, IL a daughter Rhonda (Todd) Henderson of Moweaqua, IL, a step Daughter Sherri (Mike) Christine of Pana, IL along with 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-granddaughter, 4 brothers and 8 sisters. Cremation rites have been accorded. Sharon Darlene Mense

Sharon Darlene Mense, 78 of Taylorville, died at 7:57 p.m. Thursday October 31, 2019 at Landmark of Richton Park near Chicago. She was born on June 13, 1941 in Tovey, the daughter of Glenn “Tony” and Miriam (Smith) Hunt.  Sharon began her fairy tale by eloping with Larry Mense on May 28, 1960 in Byrdstown, Tennessee, immediately following their high school graduation. She truly enjoyed working with the public managing S & L True Value in Kincaid, and later working at Uncle John’s Restaurant in Edinburg for many years. She was an avid bowler most of her life, and was dedicated to supporting her daughter, Rhonda, in the Special Olympics. Sharon was a devoted wife and mother and will be dearly missed.


Sharon is survived by her husband Larry Mense of Taylorville, their daughter: Rhonda Mense of Taylorville; daughter-in-law: Laurie Mense of Taylorville; two grandsons: Brett Ryan Mense of Brooklyn, NY, and Kyle Edward (Alyssa) Mense of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son: Brett Kelly Mense, and her three brothers: Davey Lee Hunt, Duane Hunt, and William Hunt.


A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Bethany Cemetery on Sangchris Lake in Taylorville; a final resting place chosen to be near her family who has gone before her and for Sharon’s love of the outdoors. Pastor Steven Smith will officiate.
