On Wednesday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

30-year-old Bradley D. Williams of Taylorville was driving southbound Walnut St. at the intersection with E. Park St. May 1. Williams started into the intersection attempting to turn right when the tire of the small trailer he was pulling struck the curbing, causing the trailer to start to tip towards traffic. Williams said he felt the trailer turning over and he accelerated in an attempt to avoid the trailer striking the vehicle of 62-year-old Jacklyn K. Broaddus of Taylorville. The trailer did tip over and struck Broaddus’s vehicle on the driver side rear top of the vehicle. The trailer was disconnected and a towing service was contacted to turn the trailer over.

26-year-old Drew R. Carls of Taylorville was driving a city fire apparatus westbound on E. Park St. May 2 when he attempted to turn left onto N. Walnut St. 59-year-old James T. Eiskant of Taylorville was stopped at the same intersection heading northbound on Walnut. Carls tried to fit the turn without striking Eiskant’s vehicle, but could not avoid his vehicle and struck it. A witness behind Eiskant’s vehicle told police that she believed the fire truck came around the corner fast, but also that she believed Eiskant’s vehicle was over the white line at the intersection. She said the collision barely moved Eiskant’s vehicle and thought the damage would be minimal.
