Area Arrests/Accidents 3/27/18

On Tuesday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:

 

18-year-old Ryan M. Knight of Taylorville had turned onto Route 48 northbound on March 13 when an unknown vehicle that was following him rear-ended his vehicle. The unknown vehicle fled from the scene.

 

40-year-old Charles W. Samson of Palmer was driving eastbound on Route 48 Wednesday following behind 47-year-old Jeff L. Hefner of Taylorville. When officers arrived, they found Samson’s vehicle in the ditch on the northeast side of the intersection with Cherokee St. and Hefner’s vehicle on the side of the road with major rear-end damage. Hefner was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for his injuries. Samson was cited for the accident.

 

A 16-year-old was driving eastbound on Park St. Saturday behind 39-year-old Nicholas D. Cochran of Taylorville. Cochran slowed for traffic near the intersection on Park and Long and the 16-year-old could not stop in time. The 16-year-old rear-ended Cochran. The 16-year-old was cited for the accident.

 

The vehicle of Donna A. Moreland of Taylorville was parked outside her residence on W. Main Cross St. Sunday when she came out to her car and discovered that her vehicle had been hit by an unknown vehicle. She says the accident happened sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 2:45 p.m. Sunday. Her vehicle was legally parked and the case is under investigation.

 

On Tuesday, the Pana Police Department reported the following accident to Regional Radio News:


17-year-old Brailey M. Coulter of Tower Hill was driving southbound on Poplar St. Monday when she failed to stop at a stoplight at the intersection with First St. Coulter then struck the passenger side of 61-year-old Genece McElroy’s vehicle, causing damage to both units. Coulter was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.

 

On Tuesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News:


23-year-old April N. Garcia of Taylorville was arrested Sunday on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $1,500.


24-year-old Kelsey R. Roth-Elston of Kincaid was arrested Sunday on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $5,000.


36-year-old Jason T. Batchelor of Mt. Auburn was arrested Monday on a Bond Forfeiture warrant. Bond is set at $250,000.


On Tuesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following accidents to Regional Radio News:


23-year-old Blake A. Dunhum of Charleston was driving southbound on Route 51 on March 18. At the intersection with Route 16, Dunhum did not stop at the stop sign on the north side of the intersection. He went through the intersection and off the roadway on the south side, hit an embankment, and the vehicle went on its side. The vehicle traveled a short distance on its sside until it came to rest overturned facing eastbound. Dunhum had minor injuries and his passenger had injuries to her hand. The passenger was taken to Good Shepherd Hospital via Pana Ambulance.


32-year-old Aaron L. Peel of Kincaid was driving eastbound on 1800 N. Rd. Saturday when Peel says a deer ran into the roadway. He swerved to miss the deer and ran off the roadway. The vehicle ended up in the south ditch after striking several trees.


18-year-old William T. Morrissey of Kincaid was driving northbound on Route 51 Sunday when he hit a deer approximately ¼ of a mile north of 00 N Rd. Morrissey came to a stop in the northbound lane. His vehicle was towed from the scene.


21-year-old Kyle A. Miller of Pana was driving on County Road 4 Monday one mile east of Stonington when he ran off of the road and into the ditch. After traveling in the ditch, his vehicle came to rest overturned in the ditch. Miller had left the scene when a sheriff’s deputy had arrived. Miller was cited for failure to report an accident to a police authority.
