Area Arrests/Accidents 9/26/16

On Monday the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News.

 

24 year old Ryan E. Clay of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of methamphetamine. Bond was set at $15,000.

 

21 year old Jacob A. Smeets of Lenox was arrested on Friday on an original arrest warrant for failure to return from a furlough. Bond was set at $10,000.

 

30 year old Toni R. Coleman of Kincaid was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant for false reporting of an offense. Bond was set at $5000.

 

50 year old Dennis R. Brown of Pana was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on a suspended license. Bond was set at $1500.

 

42 year old Clarence R. Gazdowicz of Morrisonville was arrested on Saturday for aggravated battery of a child.

 

53 year old John S. Reynolds of Belleville was arrested on Monday for possession of a controlled substance, violation of an order of protection, and resisting a peace officer, and retail theft.

 

On Monday the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News.

 

22 year old Patience N. Sherman of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for domestic battery.

 

53 year old John S. Reynolds of Belleville was arrested on Monday for possession of a controlled substance, violation of an order of protection, and resisting a peace officer, and retail theft.

 

ACCIDENTS

 

On September 20th 46 year old Jeffery A. Scattergood of Taylorville was following a vehicle that was behind a semi-tractor truck trailer. The vehicle behind the semi stopped suddenly, causing Scattergood to stop as well. 58 year old Rebecca A. Toon of Taylorville who was behind Scattergood could not stop in time and struck Scattergood’s vehicle who in turn struck the third vehicle he was following. Toon’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

 

On September 25th officers were dispatched to Webster at Bryant Street for a 2 car accident with no injuries. Initially the call was a hit and run, but once officers were on scene it was realized that 53 year old Ronald L. Lush of Kincaid had just parked down the road. 39 year old Sandra R. Delahunt said she was exiting Wendy’s when Lush came around a truck and trailer. Delahunt did not see Lush’s vehicle and struck him in the passenger’s side causing cosmetic damage to Delahunt’s front end of her vehicle, and damage to Lush’s passenger side door and door panel. Delahunt was cited for failure to yield turning left. No injuries were reported and neither vehicle was towed due to the accident.

 

16 year old Traci L. Johnson of Taylorville was parked in a parking lot on the west side of Main Street in Taylorville. A second vehicle was parked on the east side of Main Street. Johnson backed out of the parking spot into the street and struck the second vehicle on the driver side. Johnson’s vehicle sustained damage to the rear driver side corner of her truck and the second vehicle sustained damage to the driver side bed, cab, and rear door. Johnson was issued a citation for improper backing.


23 year old Franklin T. Emerson III of Taylorville and 39 year old Roy G. Sherman of Taylorville were both northbound on Houston Street in Taylorville, approaching the intersection with England. Sherman stated he slowed for an unknown vehicle exiting a private drive, and was struck in the rear bumper by Emerson. Emerson driver specifically requested Sherman not receive a citation. Emerson’s vehicle sustained damage including but not limited to, handlebars, gas tank, and rear turn signal light. Sherman sustained damage to the passenger side rear bumper.
