Area Arrests/Accidents 3-3-16

On Thursday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

35 year-old Joseph L. Ferreri of Pana was arrested on Wednesday on a bond forfeiture warrant of retail theft. Bond was set at $2,500.

 

31 year-old Brian M. Hayes of Taylorville was arrested on Wednesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for criminal damage to property. Bond was set at $3,000.

 

On Thursday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

35 year-old Brian C. Greer of Taylorville was arrested on Thursday for driving while license suspended.

 

Accidents:

 

15 year-old Lennon R. Myers of Taylorville was driving a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe while on a learning permit. Her mother, 56 year-old Cheryl A. Myers of Taylorville was in the vehicle with her. As Myers went to pull into a parking stall on the south side of the road in the 100 block of West Market, she accidentally accelerated and drove the vehicle through the window of Best 4 Less at 102 West Market Street. No injuries were reported. Myers was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed. The accident occurred on March 1 at 6:58 p.m.

 

Officers were dispatched to a vehicle in the roadway that appeared to have a broken axle. The caller stated that the vehicle was on Route 48 near Airport Road. Officer Reimann located the vehicle and saw it was partially blocking traffic and radioed dispatch for the next available tow. 68 year-old James C. Hurd of Decatur was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala and stated he was coming back from St. Louis, Missouri and had struck the raised median on Route 48 at South Spresser Street. Hurd noted he did not believe he fell asleep, but may have been groggy. The vehicle sustained major front end damage and was leaking fluid on the roadway. Both of the drivers side tires were popped and the front passenger tire seemed to be broken away from the vehicle. A tow truck arrived and towed the vehicle. The driver was given a ride to TPD to wait for a ride from Decatur. The accident occurred on March 3 at 4:40 a.m.

 

41 year-old Angel R. Mann of Taylorville was operating a 2012 Dodge Sedan as it was stopped on Spresser Street attempting to turn left. 69 year-old James Brubaker of Taylorville stopped behind Mann. 17 year-old Alexander M. Kennell of Taylorville was driving a 2007 Chevrolet 1500 and was looking at vehicles parked at the dealership and failed to see Brubaker stopping. Kennell’s truck struck the rear of Brubaker’s SUV and pushed it into Mann’s Dodge. No injuries were reported and all vehicles were towed off the roadway. Kennell’s vehicle was towed due to extensive front end damage. Kennell was given a citation for failure to reduce speed. The accident occurred on March 2 at 3:01 p.m.

 

24 year-old Christian E. Crowder of Taylorville was operating a 2001 Ford F-350 and was parked along the north side of West Richland Street and then began to pull out like it was turning south. 20 year-old Alexander J. Thompson of Taylorville was driving a 2015 Chevrolet 1500 and paused to allow Crowder to continue. Crowder straightened out and scraped along the side of Thompson’s vehicle. Crowder also appeared to be intoxicated and began slowly driving away. Thompson recognized the driver and called TPD. Crowder was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 1 at 6:55 p.m.
