Business, Civic, Education Leaders Meet to Organize Christian County CEO Education Program

A group of Taylorville business, civic and education leaders met at noon on Friday at the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce board room, to begin the organizing work to establish a "Christian County C-E-O" education program to the county.

Dee Krueger, assistant director at Lincoln Land Community College's Taylorville campus, told Regional Radio News that the program is an opportunity to turn some Christian County high school seniors into entrapeneurs that come back to the county to open businesses.

The group is in the midst of raising the 20-thousand dollars to pay an Effingham County group, to consult the Christian County group in establishing the program. The Effingham County group began their "Effingham County C-E-O" program just a few years ago, and now they are consulting close to 2 dozen C-E-O groups around the country.

16 to 24 Christian County high school seniors can enroll in the year-long program.

Those attending the organizational meeting on Friday included Krueger, Mary Renner, Gary and Brenda Spurling, Ken Hart, Greg Brotherton, Patty Hornbuckle, Amy Hagen, and Randy Miller.
