The National Weather Service in Lincoln says a fast-moving storm system will move through Illinois this afternoon through Thursday morning bringing a period of light snow to central and southeast Illinois.
The light snow is expected to begin to accumulate this afternoon along and north of U.S. Highway 136. The accumulating snow will spread south of Interstate 72 early this evening and reach Interstate 70 by late evening.
A period of moderate snow can be expected late tonight. Total snowfall accumulations are expected to be mostly 3 to 5 inches by Thursday morning with slightly lesser amounts south of Interstate 70.
Motorists are urged to continue to check the forecast for changing weather and driving conditions.
