Taylorville Kiwanis Hear From New Taylorville School Head at Weekly Luncheon

The Taylorville Kiwanis Club heard from the new Taylorville School Superintendent, at their weekly luncheon Tuesday at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium.

Doctor Chris Dougherty has been in the Taylorville District only 16 days, with an education career spanning some 30 years as a teacher and administrator.

She said she had several offers when she decided to move from the superintendent position in DePaw, Illinois, but she chose Taylorville because the district is poised for success.  She shared a voicemail she received from Northern Illinois, that had a Taylorville connection.

She complimented the work previous superintendent Doctor Gregg Fuesterneau did in getting the Taylorville District to where it is.

Dougherty added she’s sensed a lot of optimism in the Taylorville community as a whole, and that moving to the community has been an amazing experience.

One guest attended Tuesday’s Taylorville Kiwanis Club meeting.

The Taylorville Kiwanis Club is part of global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.  Weekly meetings are held Tuesdays at noon at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium.  For information on the club, go to taylorvillekiwanis.com.
