A Shelbyville man who led police on a multi-county chase was formally charged in court on Wednesday in Shelby County. Deven Barger, of Shelbyville, is being charged with murder with an intent to injure or kill, A Class M felony, and homicide of an unborn child, also a Class M felony. Barger is accused of killing 22-year-old Samatha Cushing. Cushing’s body was found at 112 North Will Street in Shelbyville. Monday morning Shelbyville Police investigated the homicide when Barger fled. Barger led police on a chase from Shelby County until he was stopped outside of Taylorville before he was taken into custody without incident. Barger's bail has been set at $5,000,000 with 10% to apply. Stay tuned to Regional Radio for more updates.
