$45 Billion Plan To Fix Infrastructure Sees Law Changes July 1st

Governor JB Pritzker is putting plans into motion for one of his key campaign promises.  Governor Pritzker signed a bipartisan $45 billion rebuild Illinois capital plan with the intent to fix roads, bridges, railways, universities, early childhood centers state facilities and veterans’ homes over the next six years.  Senator Andy Manar says that all of these new laws going into effect to help the infrastructure is exactly what Illinoisans need.  

 

 

July 1st is also seeing changes with new laws in Illinois that will come from this rebuild plan.  The motor fuel tax will go from 19 cents to 38 cents.  Title fees will increase from $95 to $150 dollars and $95 to $250 for mobile homes.  Vehicle registration fees will increase from $101 to $151 beginning in 2021.  Illinois will also join 14 other states in legalizing of sports betting.  Parking garages will have a 6% tax on daily and hourly garage parking and a 9% tax on monthly and annual garage parking.  Cigarettes will have a per-pack tax increase from $1.98 to $2.98 effective July 1st.    All in all over $14 billion will go towards new roads and bridges.
