Taylorville Kiwanis Hears From Taylorville Native State Police Officer at Weekly Meeting

The Taylorville Kiwanis Club heard from a Taylorville native now with the Illinois State Police, during their weekly luncheon Tuesday at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium.

Master Sargent Brandon Davis grew up in Taylorville and has spent 13 years with the Illinois State Police.  Following training at the Illinois State Police Academy, he started out at District 6 in Pontiac, then transferred to District 9 in Springfield.  He spent 7 years on patrol, then got a promotion as a staff officer working with senior staff.  Davis is presently in labor relations, working with the State Police Director.

Davis said that despite budget challenges, the Illinois State Police continues to serve the residents of the state with some 3-thousand employees, which is down some 700 from when he started 13 years ago.

Kiwanis member Judy Prasun was program chair for Tuesday's meeting.

Kiwanis members are reminded to attend the 29th Annual Kiwanis Prayer Luncheon on Tuesday, May 14th.

The Taylorville Kiwanis Club is part of global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.  Weekly meetings are held Tuesdays at noon at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium.  For information on the club, go to taylorvillekiwanis.com.
