Christian County Board Meets; Hears Comments on Updating Wind Farm Ordinance

The issue of updating Christian County's ordinance regulating the siting of wind farms, has drawn quite an audience for Christian County Board meetings the last few months, and Monday night was no exception.

Many citizens following the wind farm issue, were in attendance last night, with comments made from one person opposing the wind farms, during the public comment period before the meeting began.

County Board chair Becky Edwards told Regional Radio News after the meeting, that she wants a full vetting of the pro's and con's of the issue before any board vote is taken.

Matthew Heberling is president of the Christian County Farm Bureau.  He told Regional Radio News after the meeting that the local Farm Bureau is not taking a position on the expansion of alternative energy in Christian County.

Heberling isn't surprised at the number of Christian County residents that have attended recent County Board meetings while the wind farm ordinace has been discussed.

The Board OK'd motions for the use of the Courthouse grounds for the National Day of Prayer May 2nd, and a Bible-reading marathon at the Courthouse May 8TH.

They heard the report of a clean audit report from CPA Rich Hooper, and appointed former long-time Taylorville firefighter Dave Oldham to the Taylorville Fire Protection District Board of Trustees.
