Long-Time Taylorville Home Builder Dies

A long-time Taylorville home builder has died.  85-year-old Monte Siegrist died at home on Wednesday.

Siegrist was several things to the Taylorville community, including an entrepreneur and philanthropist.  

Siegrist was owner of Siegrist Builders, building over half the housing units built in the city over the past 60 years.

He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, and in 2005 he and his wife Lucy donated a statue of President Abraham Lincoln to the City.

Funeral mass for Monte Siegrist is Wednesday morning at 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville.
