Taylorville Youth Sports is adding soccer at the Junior High level, creating a growth of the sport in the City. Jeff Fry, the assistant high school coach, will be coaching the 7th and 8th graders, and is thrilled with the turnout so far at practices.
One of the reasons to bring on a team at the junior high level is to create an opportunity for students to play competitively at an earlier age. However it will also serve as a way to get students more experience playing soccer before they play at the high school level.
In the programs first year, the teams will play about 6 or 7 games, and there will be home games.
