The new turf at Taylorville High School debuted on Friday night for the Purple and Gold Scrimmage. It was a special night for both coaches and players, and Regional Radio News spoke with assistant coach Lee Mateer after the ribbon cutting ceremony. Mateer played a key role in funding the turf.
Head coach Jebb Odam was also pleased with the new turf, he claimed the first practice on the turf earlier this week to be magical.
The Purple and Gold Scrimmage wound up with a final score of the defense winning 7-6, but the real season kicks off next Friday when the travel to Mount Vernon.
