Shelby Electric Cooperative Presented Check for IHI Turbo America

Today, Shelby Electric Cooperative secured an interest-free Rural Economic Development Loan of $2 million. That will be loaned to IHI Turbo America (ITA) to help support a 250,000 square foot addition that is already under construction. The current estimates on the project sit close to $40 million. ITA is a manufacturing company based in Shelbyville that is continuing to add not just world-wide customers, but jobs. Shelbyville Mayor Jeff Johnson also shared some kind words about ITA, and their relationship with the community.

Shelby Electric Co-op CEO Josh Shallenberger chimed in as well. He spoke on the great relationship his company has had with ITA, and how it has grown over the years.

With the new expansion, ITA will be able to double the number of people employed at the Shelbyville facility. The project estimates a total of 90 jobs to the plant by 2022. The new positions include manufacturing, engineering, and management positions.
