BBB Warning Residents About Romance Scams

Love can be a powerful force, and some people out there are using it to scam innocent people. The Better Business Bureau is warning residents to pay attention to these scams.

Mara Clingingsmith with the BBB appeared as a guest on the Newstalk WTIM Morning Show. She says the scam starts as an innocent conversation on a dating website.

Clingingsmith says it can be hard for victims to admit they’re being scammed because they feel like they have found their “soulmate,” and the scammer will never give up.

Clingingsmith says these scams are done by groups of people posing as one person on these sites, and they could have many victims at one time.
