Avery Bourne to Fill Rosenthal?s Vacancy

Republican County Leaders representing the four counties within the 95th state house district met Saturday to interview all nine candidates seeking to replace former State Rep. Wayne Rosenthal.

Each candidate was allowed a half hour to make their case and answer the chairmen’s questions as to why they would be the best candidate to be the next 95th district State Representative. After careful consideration of all candidates, Avery Bourne of Montgomery County was chosen and has the unanimous support of the Selection Committee.

Bourne, a Washington University Law Student, was raised in Montgomery County and offers a unique profile to the Republican Party while demonstrating a compassion and understanding for agriculture, education and fiscal responsibility.

The vacancy for the state representative seat was created when Governor Bruce Rauner appointed Wayne Rosenthal to head the Department of Natural Resources in January. The Selection Committee used the full portion of time given (30 days) to find the best replacement.

Bourne will be sworn in as the 95th District State Representative this week.
