Portions of the Regional Radio listening area remain under a Winter Storm Warning or a Winter Weather Advisory thru Monday evening at 6.

The National Weather Service expanded their Winter Storm Warning to include Macoupin, Montgomery, and Effingham Counties in the Regional Radio listening area. The earlier warning issued on Sunday included Fayette County. A Winter Weather Advisory continues for the rest of our listening area; both the warning and advisory are in effect until Monday evening at 6.

The Weather Service says a storm system will track well south of Illinois into Monday, spreading snow across parts of the area. The snow will be confined to locations south of I-72...with the highest totals south of the I-70 corridor.

The snow will continue before tapering off by Monday afternoon. Storm total accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected along and south of a Jacksonville...to Mattoon-Charleston line...with 6 to 8 inches south of an Effingham to Robinson line.

Motorists should be prepared for snow-covered and hazardous roads for the Monday morning commute. Drive with caution and plan on extra time to arrive at your destination.
