National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Watch for the Weekend

 width=

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Regional Radio listening area, for Saturday night into Sunday.

The Weather Service says that while precipitation on Saturday afternoon will mainly be rain, it will switch over to snow across central and southeast Illinois during the evening, and continue in many areas overnight into Sunday.

Locations south of I-70 have more of a potential for a rain/snow mixture at times, which would lower snow totals there, but further north, 5 to 8 inches are likely in much of central Illinois.

5 to 8 inches are expected north of a Pittsfield to Mattoon to Terre Haute line, while 8 inches or more could fall north of Interstate 74.

Stay tuned to Regional Radio for updates on this developing storm.
