Area Arrests/Crashed/Incidents 12-15-14

THE CHRISTIAN CONTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

Shelby Cook, 23, of Kincaid, was arrested on a bond forfeiture warrant for Driving Under the Influence of Influence.

Alex Collingwood, 25, of Clarksdale was arrested on December 14th on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material. Bond set wat $50,000.

Heather Meinart, 33, of Taylorville, was arrested on December 14th on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material. Bond set at $40,000.

Kane Passini, 19, of Kincaid, was arrested on december 15th for consumption of liquor by a minor.

John Brady, 31, of Stonington, was arrested on December 12th for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

Asa Mitchell, 25, of Moweaqua, was arrested on December 14th for battery.

Lynn Norris, 46, of Morrisonville, was arrested on December 13th for theft.

 

ACCIDENT:

On December 14th at 9:54 p.m., a Christian County Deputy was dispatched to a one vehicle traffic crash at the building across from Freedom Oil gas station in Assumption. Dispatch stated there was a vehicle that had crashed into the building and the driver was hurt badly. The deputy arrived on the scene and saw paramedics and the Assumption Fire Department personnel working on getting the driver out of the vehicle. The driver was entrapped inside the vehicle. The driver, Steven V. Turner II, 46, of Flora, Illinois, was driving with an expired Illinois drivers license with no warrants. Many people stated he did not have a seat belt on when they arrived on scene. The officer observed the crash scene, and it appeared Turner went through the T-intersection at E. 2nd Street and US Business 51, and then traveled approximately 30ft. and hit a concrete barrier with the front, right bumper of the vehicle, and then traveled approximately 10ft. and struck the corner of the building with the front, left bumper of the vehicle. He then came to rest approximately 5ft. past the corner of the building and was stuck in the vehicle. After being taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, emergency staff there stated they were transporting him to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana where he is listed in serious condition.

 

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLWOIING ARRESTS:

On Saturday, December 12th at approximately 1:30 p.m., dispatch received a call from Walmart Loss Prevention in reference to a retail theft and the suspect was being detained in the office at the rear of the business. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with Leadon R. Morris, of Moweaqua, who had her two small juvenile children with her. Loss Prevention officer showed the officer a receipt of $67.02 worth of merchandise that was not paid for before she exited the self check out. A friend came and got the two children and Morris was secured with handcuffs with her hand in front and escorted to the squad car to be transported to the Taylorville Police Department to be processed and released on a Notice To Appear.

On December 11th, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an IVC violation. Subsequent to investigation, Kody K. Page, of Taylorville, was arrested for driving while her license were suspended.

While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle traveling East on Spresser Street. A registration check of the vehicle showed that the registration was expired. Contact was made with the female driver. Molly Grigsby, of Taylorville, was arrested for driving on a license that had been expired more than one year. Grigsby was released on the scene.

On December 14th at 3:27 p.m., a Taylorville Police Officer made contact with Shelby D. Cook, of Kincaid, outside of Bills' Toasty. Dispatch ran her information through L.E.A.D.S. and advised that Cook had a valid warrant out of Sangamon County. Cook was secured and transported to the Christian County Sheriff's Office for processing.
