An electric transmission line planned to pass through the area will use newer technologies to bring wind energy power to Central Illinois. Clean Line Associate Allison Smith tells Regional Radio they are able to send the electricity over hundreds of miles with very little power loss:

The exact route of the transmission line hasn't been decided, but it will probably pass through either southern Christian County or northern Montgomery.
