Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 11-12-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS: 

David Price, 54, of Taylorville was arrested on November 10th for domestic battery.

David Alexander, 49, of Decatur, was arrested on November 11th for vehicle theft, possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of a weapon by a felon.

ACCIDENTS:

On November 8, Emily R. Stephens, 18, of Taylorville was traveling south bound on Route 48 at 1800 North Road. Stephens ran off the roadway to the left and into the ditch. She continued and struck a road culvert causing her to overturn. Stephens went airborne and struck the ditch on the south of the culvert on the left side of the roadway. She came to a stop upright after overturning. Stephens was ejected from her 2006 Ford Freestyle.

On November 9, Thomas M. Taylor, 62, of Taylorville was traveling east on 2100 North Road around 1275 East when a deer ran into the roadway and Taylor hit the deer causing damage to the front on the 2012 Nissan Marano he was driving.

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

On November 8, at approximately 11:57pm, Walmart Loss Prevention reported a male shoplifter detained in his office. Loss Prevention told the officer Davis Younker, of Taylorviulle, had opened a package containing a battery pack by using a knife. He said Younker then concealed the item and exited the store without paying for the item. Younker was arrested, transported to the Taylorville Police Department, processed and released on a Notice to Appear.

On November 10, officers were dispatched to 801 East Poplar by Christian County 911 for a domestic call. Subsequent to investigation, David Price of Taylorville, was arrested for domestic battery.

On November 9, at 3:19am, a Taylorville Police officer was investigating a report of a female not being able to leave from a residence in Langleyville. While at the residence, Fredrick J. Tremain of Taylorville, was walking fron the shed towards the house. Dispatch confirmed through LEADS that Tremain had three valid warrants from Sangamon County. Tremain was arrested and transported to the Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.

On November 10, at 11:52am, Walmart Loss Prevention advised he had a female ship lifter who had left the store without paying for several items. He said she left the store and got into a vehicle and left the area. A copy of Walmart's security video was obtained and placed into evidence. The matter is under investigation. On November 10, at 12:25pm, the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office called and advised the location of the vehicle and its driver, Sally Samara, of Springfield. Samara was arrested for retail theft and transported back to Taylorville. She was processed and released on a Notice to Appear of December 10, 2014 at 10:00am. All items were taken from Walmart except a jacket, were recovered. Photos were taken of the items and the items were then returned to Walmart. Photos were placed into evidence.
