Area Arrests/Accidents 10/22/2014

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

 Gary Lyerla, 46, of Taylorvile was arrested on October 21 on a bond forfeiture warrant out of  Franklin County. 

 Mindy Fleming, 51, of Cape Coral, Florida was arrested on October 21 for deceptive practice/bad check writing. 

 

ACCIDENTS:

 On October 21, Braydon Copeland, 17, of Morrisonville, was traveling east on Ridge Street and Benjamin C. Ferrill, 17, was following Copeland.  Copeland had to make a sudden stop he said, because of kids in the roadway.  When Copeland stopped, Ferrill tried to stop and skidded into the rear end of Copeland.  Both vehicles had to be towed away from the scene.  Copeland's passengers were Austin Harris, 14, of Palmer, Call Beiermann, 17, of Morrisonville, Landon Ferrill, 15, of Morrisonville and Nathan Goebel, 15, of Harvel. 

 On October 21, Kenneth Bryan, 25, of Watson, Illinois stopped at the stop light at the intersection of North Webster Street and Spresser/Park Street in Taylorvile.  Bryan was stopped facing south bound on North Webster Street in the left turn lane.  Bryan was going to proceed to turn left and travel east onto Park Street/Route 29.  He was pulling a 2007 EBY stock trailer.  Charles Elrod, 72, of Pana, was also traveling south bound on North Webster Street and stopped behind Bryan in the left turn lane.  Bryan stated another semi tractor with trailer, was attempting to turn north bound onto North Webster Street from Spresser Street.  He did not have enough room to make the turn, so Bryan began to back his semi.  Bryan did not see Elrod, and Elrod could not back due to other vehicles behind him.  Bryan struck Elrod.  Bryan received minor damage to the rear of the trailer.  Elrod received minor damage to the front end.  No injuries were reported. 

 On October 18, Carl Spengler, 78, of Pawnee was traveling west bound on township road 950 North approximately 800 feet west of township road 965 east, when a deer entered the roadway.  Spengler was unable to avoid striking the animal, and he received front, passenger side damage to his 2005 Pontiac Vibe.   No injuries were reported. 

 

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

 On October 17, at approximately 11:01 pm, officer's were dispatched to 813 East Vine Street in reference to a female that had been battered at 902 East Poplar Street Apt. 2.  Jessica S. Koonce of Taylorville, and Nathan T. Mount of Shelbyville, were located at 902 East Poplar Apt. 2.  Both were arrested for battery, and transported to the Taylorville Police Department for processing.  Both were issued a Notice To Appear. 

 On October 21, a make subject came into the Taylorville Police Department and a witness to a possible crime.  The officer was advised by dispatch that the male subject had a confirmed warrant out of  Franklin County.  Gary Lyerla of Taylorville, was placed under arrest and transported to the Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond. 

 On October 18, while out on Main Cross in regards to an unrelated altercation at a bar, the officer observed a female subject strike a male subject.  Rachael Whitlow of Taylorville was eased on a notice to appear. 

 On October 19, at 12:25 am, officers were make aware of a possible theft from 1301 West Adams Street.  When the officer arrived in the area, there was a brief foot pursuit.  Officers were able to apprehend the suspect.  After speaking with the complainant they requested no charges.  Officers ran the suspect, Lisa M. Harker, through L.E.A.D.S. and discovered she had a valid warrant out of Shelby County.  Lisa Harker was arrested and transported to Christian County Sheriff's Office.
