Area Arrests/Accidents 10/15/2014

 

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ACCIDENTS:

 On October 13, Howard D. Simmons, 79, of Blue Mound was traveling north bound on County Highway 22.  An unknown vehicle was traveling west bound.  Simmons turned right around the curve and began heading east bound when it drove into water standing on the roadway.  The unidentified driver and Simmons met on the roadway while Simmoms was traveling thru the water.  Simmons stated that he somehow struck the side on the other vehicle due to the water on the roadway.  The unidentified driver did not stop and Simmons stated the other vehicle was a semi pulling a hopper bottom trailer.

 

 

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

 On October 13, a Taylorville Police Officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle pulling into #27 Hillcrest Trailer Court.  The officer observed a male subject in the passenger's side of the vehicle that was known to have a valid warrant out of Macoupin County.  Contact was made with the male subject, and his name was ran through L.E.A.D.S. and verified the warrant.  Deric D. Brown of Taylorville was placed under arrest and was transported to the Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond on the warrant. 

 On October 13, at approximately 5:34 p.m., officers were at Walmart when a retail theft occurred.  Subsequent to investigation, Faith Lozier of Nokomis and a juvenile were arrested for retail theft.

 'On October 13, at approximately 9:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walmart for a retail theft.  Walmart loss prevention already had two juveniles detained prior to their arrival.  The juveniles were transported to the Taylorville Police Department for processing and were released to their parents. 

 On October 13, an unknown/uninvolved vehicle stopped at the red light at the intersection of West Spresser and North Cheney Street facing west bound.  Laverne H. Loveall, 55, of Taylorville stopped behind the uninvolved vehicle waiting on the red light.  Michelle C. Webb, 27, of Edinburg said she applied her brakes and her vehicle hydroplaned and slid into the back of Loveall.  Webb sustained major damage to her front end.  Loveall sustained minor damage to the rear.  Laverne Loveall was trasnported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital via ambulance.  Her passengers Conner Loveall, 6, of Taylorville, Dakota Hurt, 4, of Taylorville and Scarlett Hurt, 1, of Taylorville did not need medical treatment.  Webb's 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan was towed from the scene.  Webb was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
