Sheriff: Hit And Run Driver Comes Forward

Authorities believe they have found the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a Christian County woman early Friday morning (10-10).

The Christian County Sheriff's Office said Friday that they had been called out sometime around 3:00 am on reports of a woman walking along Route 48 just north of Stonington. The deputy reportedly discovered the woman's body in a ditch, the apparent victim of a hit and run driver. She was later identified as 22 year-old Devin Lin Rohdemann of Taylorville.

The Sheriff's Office says after hearing reports about Rohdemann's death, a man came forward Friday afternoon saying he had been driving in that area around the time of the incident. The unidentified man said he thought he had hit an animal.

According to the Sheriff's Office,  the vehicle involved was seized by the Illinois State Police,  and the driver interviewed. No arrest has been reported.
