175th Anniversary Parade Winners Announced

Float winners were announced over the weekend, from the 175th Anniversary Celebration Parade held Saturday in Taylorville.

The winner of the “Look-a-Like Float from the 1939 Parade” was Miss Christian County 2014, Abigale Millburg, riding a 10-foot high dress with a 4-wheeler underneath.

The winner in the category of “Floats with the theme of the PAST”, was First United Methodist Church of Taylorville. Honorable mention went to the Taylorville Junior High School Cheerleaders.

Winner in the category of “Floats with the theme of the PRESENT”, were the Cub Scouts Pack 132, with honorable mention going to the First National Bank in Taylorville.

The winner in the category of “Floats with the them of the FUTURE”, was Mrs. Cope's 2nd grade class at Taylorville's North School, with honorable mention going to Girl Scout Troop 3146.

The Mayor's Choice award in Saturday's 175th Parade went to the Old Stonington 4-H Club, and the Chairman's Choice went to Faith-In-Action.
