Coroner Releases Name of Victim in Route 29 Fatal Accident

Christian County Coroner Amy Calvert Winans late Wednesday afternoon released the name of the person killed in an accident on Route 29 north of Edinburg.

The accident occurred during the noon hour on Wednesday, killing 66-year-old Lynne B. Ash of Taylorville.

Illinois State Police say Ash was apparently the driver of a blue 2003 Chevy van was driving the wrong way, heading north in the southbound lane. Witnesses told police the van then veered off the road, then swerved back into the southbound lane, striking the trailer of a 1999 International Truck Tractor, which was headed south.

The Chevy came to rest on the northbound lane, while the truck wound up in the ditch on the southbound side.

The driver of the truck, a 42 year-old Edinburg man, was apparently uninjured.

Winans tells Regional Radio News that the Illinois State Police are handling the crash investigation. The Christian County Sheriff's Office, Edinburg Police along with Edinburg Fire and Rescue, all responded to the scene.
