The Taylorville Police Department has announced that it again is accepting unwanted or expired medications, whether prescription or over the counter, at the department headquarters in the next week, as part of National Drug Take Back Day on September 27th.
Deputy Police Chief Brian Hile tells Regional Radio News, that the local department collects several hundred pounds of unwanted or expired medication. Hile added that at one event they held, some one-thousand pounds of unwanted drugs were collected.
Hile says collecting unwanted drugs keeps those medications off the streets and out of the hands of youth.
Taylorville Police will also collected unwanted drugs on Saturday, September 27th, from 10 til 2, at the Taylorville Walgreens.
