Taylorville Chamber Chillifest Committee Meets

width=The Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce Chillifest Committee met Monday night in the Chamber board room on the 2nd floor of U-S Bank, to further finalize plans for the annual festival on the Taylorville square October 4th and 5th.

This year, Chillifest is being joined by the 175th celebration of Taylorville and Christian County, with events both on the square and also at the Christian County Historical Society grounds.

Among the major events this year at Chillifest include the 5K Run; Little Miss, Mister, and Junior Miss Pageants; 2 stages of entertainment this year; and 2 days of International Chilli Society judging.

What's being called the “C-175th” includes events Friday and Saturday at the Christian County Historical Society, including an encampment by the 10th Illinois Volunteer Unit regiment; a re-enactment of the “Lincoln Almanac Trial”; and a Saturday full of antique tractors, cars, arts, crafts and food on October 4th.

At Monday night's Chillifest committee meeting, it was announced that there are 15 Little Miss contestants, 4 Little Mister contestants, and 9 Junior Miss contestants all participating in Saturday morning's annual pageant.
