U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis of Taylorville has co-sponsored H.R. 3465, the Second Chance Reauthorization Act of 2013, bipartisan legislation to provide resources to state and local governments as well as community-based organizations to improve success rates for people released from prison and jail.
The Second Chance Act was passed by Congress with strong bipartisan support and signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2008.
The legislation is supported by national organizations like the NAACP, Prison Fellowship Ministries, the National Association of Police Organizations, and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Illinois-based organizations like the Macon County Court Services, Illinois Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, and TASC Illinois.
