Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 9-2-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

Melissa Owens, 39, of Taylorville was arrested on August 31st for retail theft.

Terry Edwards, 26, of Edinburg was arrested on August 30th for battery.

William Shride, 38, of Taylorville was arrested on August 30th for driving on a revoked license.

Rodney Smith, 23, of Assumption was arrested on September 1st on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on a suspended license.

Brianna Hall, 23, of Taylorville was arrested on September 2nd for domestic battery.

Hayden Klespitz, 48, of Pana was arrested on a bond forfeiture warrant for theft.

Michael Stalnaker, 24, was arrested on September 1st on a bond forfeiture warrant for failure to appear.

Matthew Norris, 17, of Taylorville was arrested on September 1st for assault.

Jeffery Sparks, 40, of Vandalia was arrested on August 29th for domestic battery and driving on a revoked/suspended license.

 

ACCIDENTS:

On August 18, Marilyn Hall, 87 of Taylorville was traveling southbound on Rt. 48 spproximately ½ mile north of township road 965 East. She was slowing to stop at a portable traffic light at the north end of the construction area. Logan Elson, 42, of Morrisonville was also traveling south bound and was behind Hall. Both Elson and Hall stopped at the traffic light. Occupants of both vehicles said the light changed to green and Hall preceded to the stop line. Elson began to proceed. Occupants then said the light quickly changed to yellow then red. Hall said she saw the lights change and applied her brakes. Elson was unable to stop in time to avoid striking Hall.

Alan Bailey 38, of Taylorville was traveling west bound on 900 North Road in his 2008 Ford Crown Victoria was was unable to stop to avoid striking a deer.

Sandra Freeman, 63, of Taylorville was west bound on Spresser Street approximately 100 feet east of Cheney Street when a vehicle in front of her suddenly slowed and turned into a parking lot. Freeman braked to avoid striking the turning vehicle. Joshua Sutton, 22, of Taylorville was also west bound on Spresser Street behind Freeman. Sutton was unable to stop before striking the rear of Freeman's 2008 Dodge Caravan.

Pamela Wright, 57, of Pana was heading north bound on Illinois Rt, 29. She slowed to turn right onto West Hedge Street. Barbara Tipsword, 61, of Pana failed to reduce speed to avoid an accident and rear ended Wright. No property damage occurred . Wright sustained rear end damage and was able to drive away. Tipsword received front end damage.
