Lincoln Land Community College Welcomes New Faculty

SPRINGFIELD – The Lincoln Land Community College Board of Trustees welcomed new faculty at its August meeting last week.

Phyllis Bieverof Minier, instructor in surgical technology, is a certified surgical technologist with substantial clinical experience in all aspects of surgical assisting.

Dr. Ashley Greenof Franklin, assistant professor of English, will teach developmental English and direct the Writing Center.

David Leitnerof Chatham, assistant professor of English, began at LLCC in 2011 as an adjunct faculty member teaching English and literature.

Tim McKenzieof Decatur, assistant professor, journalism and humanities, was an adjunct faculty member last year at LLCC.

Deana Schenkof Springfield, instructor in English, has taught as an adjunct instructor at LLCC since the fall of 2006.

Also at the meeting, trustee Jeff Fulgenzi commended U.S. Senator Dick Durbin for his recent roundtable discussion and press conference held at LLCC, calling attention to student loan debt and the questionable practices of some for-profit colleges. Fulgenzi agreed with Sen. Durbin that community colleges are a quality and affordable alternative to for-profit colleges and should be strongly considered by all seeking higher education.
