Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 8-20-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

Bennie Beck, 28, of Pana was arrested on August 20th on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of cannabis.

ACCIDENTS

On August 16, 2014 Daniel Delaney, 23, of Altamont was traveling southbound on U.S, Highway 51 at approximately 975 North. He went off the roadway hitting a sign then into then went into the median of the highway. He came back on the roadway then into the east ditch. Delaney had damage to the left, front pane and the front wheels of his 2001 Ford Taurus. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Delaney stated he had fell asleep while driving.

On August 16 at approximately 11:50 pm, Justin Bland, 24, of Taylorville was traveling north bound on 750 East Road. Kaylan Hawkins, 22, of Palmer was traveling west bound on 1250 North Road. At the intersection of 750 East 1250 North Road, Bland failed to slow at the intersection and hit Hawkins with the front, right end of his 1990 Jeep Cherokee. Hawkins 2012 Ford Fusion was hit on the front, left end. Hawkins then went off the roadway to the north west of the intersection into the corn field. Bland went into the ditch on the north west corner of the intersection. His vehicle overturned onto its side in the ditch. Both vehicles received damage and were towed from the scene. All occupants fron both vehicles were taken to area hospitals. Passengers in Bland's vehicle were 19 year old Thomas Bland of Taylorville and 19 year old Chase Crites of Taylorville. Justin Bland was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident.

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

On August 20th at 1:47 am, officers were dispatched to 824 Sequoia Court. Upon arrrival, the officer observed a female to have tow valid warrants. The officer contacted the Taylorville Police Department dispatch who verified the wattants were active. Holly Conaway, 20, of Taylorville was arrested and transported to the Christian County Sheriff's Office in lieu of bond.

On August 19, a juvenile was traveling west on Poplar when his brakes failed. He stated he could not stop his vehicle, andt attempted to signal to the driver, Asan Asani, 55, of Taylorville by waving out of the window. On August 18, Doreen Hilbert, 57, of Taylorville was pulling out of Davis Memorial Parking lot crossing the intersection of Franklin and Othelle heading north on Othelle. Kourtney Kater, 17, of Stonington was traveling west bound on Franklin. Hilbert did not yield to Kater heading west bound on Franklin. Kater hit Hilbert in the rear passenger tside rear wheel of the 2004 Cadillac she was driving, Hilbert ended up facing south on Othelle Street. Kater's received front end damage & remained facing west bound on Franklin Street. Hilbert's 2011 Chevy Aveo was towed from the scene.
