New Law Seeks A Bulletproof Vest For Every Cop

A law signed this week requires police departments across the state to provide bulletproof vests for their officers. The law also requires the local law enforcement agencies to apply for federal aid to help pay for the equipment upgrade, with the state picking up half of the cost. The law requires a vest for every new recruit unless federal or state funds aren't available, or if departments provide allowances for officers to buy their own vests.
