Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 7-14-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING CRASHES:

On July 13 at 7:02pm, Jacob D. Hurley, 18, of Edinburg was traveling west on 2100 North Road. Hurley crossed a bridge and began to go around a curve. Hurley advised he heard a pop and was not able to control the vehicle. Hurley went off the road and hit a tree. No injuries reported.

On July 13 at 2:05am, Branden A. Sims, 20, of Assumption was allegedly driving recklessly in the area of West 1st Street and Walnut when he lost control and left the roadway. Sims drove across the sidewalk and struck G.A.B. Heating and Cooling's garage door. Sims continued into the building hitting a vehicle parked inside the business. Sims then fled the scene but was later located. No injuries were reported.

On July 11 at 4:41am, Chad E. Coleman, 35, of Pana and Nicholas R. Burgener, 31, of Decatur,were both northbound on Highway Route 51. At approximately 1/4 south of 1450 North Road, Coleman struck Burgener in the rear-end. No injuries were reported.

On July 10 at 9:34pm, Steven D. Hanner, 60, of Taylor Springs was traveling southbound on Route 51. At 875 North, a deer entered the roadway from the east. Hanner then collided with the deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported.

ARRESTS:

Melissa J. White, 42, of 814 West Adams, Taylorville, was arrested July 13 for possession of a controlled substance.

Vernon L. Roberson, 52, of 820 South 23rd, Springfield, was arrested July 12, for driving under the influence of alcohol. 

Brandon E. Kamalii, 38, of 613 Paris Avenue, Pana, was arrested July 12 for battery.

Ashley L. Rockford, 29, of 718 West Vandeveer Street, Taylorville, was arrested July 11 for domestic battery.


THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

On July 11 at 2:26pm, a Taylorville Police Department officer was dispatched to Poplar and Cherokee for a hit and run traffic crash. Upon arrival, witnesses advised the suspect vehicle was a black Pontiac Grand Prix with a temporary license plate. The matter is under investigation.

On July 11 at 5:45am, a Taylorville Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Route 29 at Pershing Road. Upon further investigation, the male registered owner, John E. Beyers, 40, of Pana, was arrested for driving suspended. Beyers was transported to Taylorville Police Department for processing and released on a notice to appear.

On July 10 at 9:42pm, Taylorville Police Department officers were dispatched to 58 Hannon Trailer Park in reference to an argument between neighbors. Following their arrival, officers placed Michael J. Alberts, 30, of Taylorville under arrest for disorderly conduct. Alberts was taken to Taylorville Police Department where he was processed and released on a notice to appear in court.

On July 11 at 4:50pm, Taylorville Police Department officers were dispatched to 718 West Vandeveer Street in reference to a fight in progress. Following officers' arrival, Ashley L. Rockford, 29, of Taylorville was placed under arrest for domestic battery. Rockford was taken to Taylorville Police Department and processed before being transported to Christian County Correctional Center.
