Alan Jones retired October First, 2012, after a 30-year career in the Marines with many of those years spent in the Marine Corp's Air Wing.

Jones told Kiwanis members that he was involved in conflicts in Bosnia in 1993, assisted the first Iraq effort from the Phillipines, then served 3 tours in Iraq on the ground.

When he retired, he had nearly 12-hundred people in his last command. Jones continued to mention in his remarks the importance of people being any organization's greatest asset.
