Taylorville City Council Hears About More FOIA Requests

The Taylorville City Council met Monday night and heard more in regards to the Freedom of Information Act requests issue. City Attorney Rocci Romano says Jamal Shehadeh has made several more FOIA requests:

The issue started when Shehadeh’s first request violated FOIA disclosure rules as he was allegedly asking for things such as Taylorville police officers’ personal numbers. Shehadeh is facing a criminal felony drug charge.

 

The Taylorville City Council approved an ordinance to annex the Davis Land Development, LLC property located in the 4100 block of East Lake Shore Drive and then approved the Planning Commission Recommendation to rezone the property from Agricultural-1 to Residential-1.

The Taylorville City Council approved motions to bid and/or advertise for a heavy equipment operator position at Oak Hill Cemetery due to a retirement and also at the Street Department due to a resignation.

Mayor Greg Brotherton told the Council he will be handing over the $5,000 check from a foreign exchange student that he recently discovered to Taylorville Superintendent Dr. Gregg Fuerstenau to be used for scholarship money.  

The Taylorville City Council approved the following events: “Meet the Machines” on September 13th from 10am to 1pm, the Christian County Farm Bureau Young Ag Leaders Plowing the Streets 5k run and 1 mile family fun run on July 26th, the Homecoming Parade on September 17th, and the 29th Annual Chillifest on October 4th and 5th.

The meeting adjourned at 7:42pm.
