Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 7-7-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

Steven C. Smith, 40, of 502 North Pawnee Street, Taylorville, was arrested July 6 for domestic battery, possession of cannabis, and resisting a peace officer.

Brian E. Tirey, 35, of 2218 Everglade Drive, Taylorville, was arrested July 4 on a bond forfeiture for bad checks/obtain control of property.

Carole A. Brasche, 25, of 2119 South 10th, Springfield, was arrested July 6 on a bond forfeiture for retail theft.

Nathan T. Mount, 19, of 1218 South Fourth Street, Shelbyville, was arrested July 6 for driving with a suspended license.

Monte R. Evans, 32, of 802 East Vine, Taylorville, was arrested July 5 on a bond forfeiture for driving with a suspended license.

Brett D.L. Brummer, 22, of 2509 Eastwood Drive, Taylorville, was arrested July 5 for operating a watercraft under the influence of alcohol.

Justin M. Chronister, 32, of 127 Wilcox Street, Springfield, was arrested July 4 on a bond forfeiture for driving with a suspended license.


THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

On July 5 at 10:49pm, a Taylorville Police Department officer was on patrol on Langleyville Road and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding. Following investigation, Leonard D. Aldridge, 33, of Watseka was arrested for driving while license suspended.

On July 2, 911 sent Taylorville Police Department officers to 833 East Lewis Street in reference for a fight in progress. Following officers' arrival, a male juvenile was arrested for domestic battery. The juvenile was taken to Taylorville Police Department, processed and later released to Youth Services Bureau.

On July 5 at 1:15pm, Taylorville Police Department received information that there was a domestic battery occurring at 502 North Pawnee. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with two subjects. Upon further investigation, Steven C. Smith, 40, of Taylorville was arrested for domestic battery. Smith was transported to Taylorville Police Department for processing. Smith was currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections. IDOC was contacted and they issued a warrant for Smith's arrest. Smith was then transported to the Christian County Sheriff's Office and lodged on domestic battery charges. Smith was also charged with resisting a peace officer and possession of cannabis.

On July 5 at 5:10pm, Taylorville Police Department officers were on patrol when they came into contact with Monte R. Evans, 32, of Taylorville. Officers ran Evans' info through the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System which determined he was wanted on a Sangamon County failure to appear warrant. Evans was placed under arrest and transported to the Christian County Correctional Center.

On July 7 around 1:12am, Taylorville Police Department dispatch received a call in reference to a reckless driver and the complainant wished to sign a complaint. Dispatch was able to get the description and registration of the vehicle. While traveling out to Sequoia Court, an officer saw the vehicle traveling east on West Elm Street. The vehicle was stopped in the parking lot of Ace Hardware and following the stop, Nathan T. Mount, 19, of Shelbyville, a 17-year-old female juvenile, and a 17-year-old male juvenile were all arrested for illegal possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor. All were transported to Taylorville Police Department to be processed and released on a notice to appear.

CRASHES: 

On July 4 at 12:12pm, Brian L. Brady, 40, of Troy was traveling east on Route 48. Brady was nearing the intersection of Route 48 and Shumway. Christina S. Mikulski, 25, of Springfield was traveling south on Cherokee Street and stopped at the intersection of Route 48 and Cherokee Street. Mikulski reportedly did not see Brady and proceeded into the intersection causing a collision. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Mikulski was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital with injuries described as minor by the report. Brady's passengers: Wendy M. Brady, 44, of Tovey, a 12-year-old girl, and a 13-year-old girl, were all transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital with injuries described as minor by the report. Brady himself reported no injuries.

On July 5, Daniel R. Durell, 49, of Edwardsville was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 48 when he hit the brakes due to a deer coming out of the treeline to his right. Durell struck the deer in the southbound lane of Route 48. No injuries reported.

On July 4, William H. Jones, 52, of Taylorville was traveling south on Route 104 near the intersection with Broaddus Road. A deer ran west across the roadway in front of Jones causing an accident. Jones was able to drive away from the scene. No injuries were reported.

On July 1, Brandon E. Rhodes, 23, of Taylorville was traveling north on Shumway Street and was approaching the intersection of Shumway and Market Streets. A 16-year-old female was traveling east on Market Street. The 16-year-old stopped but reportedly did not see Rhodes and proceeded into the intersection and struck Rhodes. Both vehicles were able to drive from the scene. No injuries were reported.

On July 5 at 11:49am, Ryan R. Hendrickson, 39, of Taylorville was traveling west on Route 48 near the intersection of Shumway Street. Jacob G. Gideon, 27, of Rochester was traveling south on Shumway Street approaching Route 48. Hendrickson reported that he thought Gideon was going to pull out in front of him. Hendrickson reportedly applied the brakes, began to skid and laid the motorcycle on its side. There was no contact between the vehicles. Hendrickson was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital with injuries that were described as not physically evident by the report. No other injuries reported.
