LLC Livestock Judging Team completes winning season

The Lake Land College Livestock Judging Team recently competed its 2013-2014 season with a winning record and one Laker, Marie Lock of Avon was named an All-American.

Marie Lock

As an agriculture transfer major, who grew up on a grain and cattle operation, Lock was very familiar with handling livestock when she came to Lake Land College as a freshman. Upon graduation from Lake Land in May, Lock will attend Iowa State University where she will major in agriculture business.

The graduating sophomore team competed in 11 competitions during their tenure at Lake Land.

During the season, the team placed as the fifth high team overall at the National Western Stock Show; fifth high team overall, second in cattle, third in reasons and second in sheep at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo; high team overall, in reasons and in the Brahman, English and Market divisions at the Dixie National; and seventh high team overall, second in swine and third in cattle at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
