Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 5-12-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING CRASHES:

On May 10 around 10:30pm, a Christian County Sheriff's Deputy responded to a single vehicle accident with unknown injuries at 1350 East 800 North. The deputy arrived on scene and saw the vehicle in the southeast ditch at the intersection of 1350 East and 800 North. The deputy spoke with the driver, a 16-year-old female from Taylorville, and the two passengers. One of the passengers stated she had a possible neck injury and was transported by ambulance to Taylorville Memorial Hospital. The driver and front seat passenger refused treatment. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

On May 9, Paula I. Dilley, 49, of Assumption was at the stop sign at Old Route 51 and Illinois Street. Elvin W. Patrick, 70, of Assumption was turning left onto Illinois Street from Old Route 51. Patrick took the turn sharp and struck Dilley with the left front bumper. Dilley had damage to the left front bumper and also to her front left tire. Patrick did not have any damage that could be seen. Dilley was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

On May 8, a crash occurred on Dial Street near Central Avenue. Dial Street becomes a west bound only, one way street at Central Avenue. Alison D. Denning, 17, of Bulpitt was parked on Dial Street about 10 feet west of Central Avenue. Christina M. Peat, 25, of Kincaid was traveling west on Dial Street as Denning backed out into the roadway and struck Peat in the front passenger side. Denning said she did not see Peat as she started backing out. Peat stated she did not see Denning backing up until she hit her. No injuries were reported.

ARRESTS:

Joseph M. Besson, 28, of 850 North 900 East Road, Palmer, was arrested May 10 for driving while license is revoked or suspended.

Michael J. Hughes, 45, of 1220 West Market Street, Taylorville, was arrested May 10 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

James R. Flanagan, 47, of 1315 South Houston, Taylorville, was arrested May 9 for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended/revoked license.

John P. Brilley, 32, of 110 John, Pana, was arrested May 12 on a bond forfeiture for domestic battery.


THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DPEARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

On May 10 at 3:26am, Taylorville Police Department officers were sent to Cherokee Street near North School for a domestic dispute in progress. Officers located a large group of individuals yelling in the back yard of 500 East Cleveland Street. Upon investigation, Kody Page, 30, and Jaclyn Harris, 30, were arrested for fighting in public. Page and Harris were transported to Taylorville Police Department, processed, and released with a notice to appear.

On May 9, 911 advised the Taylorville Police Department of a traffic crash in the 1000 block of East Park. One of the drivers, Tommy R. Smith, 37, of Girard was found to have a suspended license and was arrested and transported to Taylorville Police Department.

On May 9, Taylorville Police Department dispatched was contacted about a possible drunk driver heading north on Webster Street from Manners Park. Officers located the vehicle parked in the 100 block of Washington Street. During the course of the stop, Tanner J. Ginest, 19, of Taylorville was placed under arrest for illegal consumption of alcohol. Ginest was transported to Taylorville Police Department, processed, and released on a notice to appear.

CRASH:

On May 9, Tommy R. Smith, 37, of Girard and Stephanie E. Hunter, 32, of Assumption were both traveling west on East Park Street near the 1000 block. Hunter was stopped/slowed in traffic. Smith said he took his eyes off the road briefly and when he looked back at the road, he was not able to stop before striking Hunter. Smith struck Hunter in the rear area of the vehicle.
